:thumb: Hi Loopy, that is good sounding news too.. Wish him well from us all, still got him in my prayers as he still has a ways to go yet, but sounds like his recovery could be better than first thought, got my fingers crossed as the human body can do amazing things.. :thumb:

thanks all for the kind words and support
he has now moved from the icu to the high dependancy unit - he pursed his lips as if to blow a kiss to his wife and answered a question with a thumbs up

so - hes still in there!! cognisant and reacting - i am sooo relieved and thankful we still have him with us. we are having a whip round at his favourite pub on friday as a friend has come up with the clever idea of buying 'wifey' a bus pass for her jourrney from swindon to oxford every day.

i am getting her a couple of books so she has something to read as the journey will be a couple of hours each way by the time she gone in to oxford then out to the john radcliffe

Brilliant news. These doctors can be so pessimisstic - I know they have to give worse case scenario, but really! Good to see he's a fighter :)

:yho: Loopy that is wonderful news & a huge step forward to.. He is in a wonderful hospital too, OH was there for a while after an accident..
What the local pub has done is a great idea & something to help pass the journey for her will be great as well to her a break.. A difficult time for her, but it will be such a worry off her mind I am sure to not have to worry about that as well.. :gnthb: Wishing him the strength to keep up this fight & a speedy recovery now then... Keep us posted..

Sorry to hear of your friend's stroke Loopy - it is awful to think of someone so young having this sort of problem. Having had traumatic times in my own family I feel great sympathy for his wife and family. It will help them enormously to have the support and affection of friends at this awful time.

thank you all for your kindness - we will be meeting in the pub from 5pm and a friend will be drawing the caricatures of anyone that knows him - they can then put a message on to jon - i am hoping this will give his wife some lovely messages to read to him and will jog his memory and hopefully give him a chuckle when hes ready.

we have an accoustic set organised aswell - gorgeous lady with a belting voice

i have dinner already prepped cos tis a bit of an early start for me - i expect to be home and pickled by 9pm !!

just an update, Jon is now in the local hospital and on the long road to recovery (hope) he had a few low days - his wife thinks hes realised whats happened - hes now recognising people, and hes also managed a lop sided smile and moving his hand so he can gesture and communicate that way

hes pulled through the dangerous bit and now is in for a long slog

    its good hes nearer home

:yho: Fantastic news to hear Ali.... A long slow road ahead, but some very positive signs so far & to be in the local hospital is fantastic news as his progress must be good... Hi is obviously a fighter & once he realised maybe what had happened I am sure it gave him the incentive to fight all the more... Heart disease is a dreadful & frightening thing but amazing what progress can be made if the mind is clear to fight it & his must be.. He will have down in the dumps days but that is when you are all there for him & you get the caricature pics out & look at them & read the funny words of hope, love & encouragement out again.. A slow road but a good road to recovery now I hope Loopy... Give them our get well wishes from us here at GC too...!! It will be easier now he is nearer home too..!!! :yho:
