Well, there are a few civilian companies that work on security issues for the Services and Government, Sheal, and use large aircraft. The problem with that is Civilian, whether working with the Services or not, would not have any need to fly so low or have the clearance to do so, and all civilian aircraft bear Registration Numbers and Letters. RAF aircraft bear military registrations and now the RAF round decals are no longer the bright

      But more subdued, like this...........

And on grey body paint just don't stand out.

This is the Bombardier used for electronic surveillance serviced by a Civilian company who used to be a client of mine. You can see how subdued the decals, apart from the Canadian symbol, are.

I think we should start something - a single plane, is an interest..... more than one, a fascination!

Well, it was a "fascination" of aircraft from the age of around 5 years that made me join the rif raf, and no doubt it was the same for roders.:dunno::heehee:

More than an interest, I would say...

I’m quite proud to say that my efforts made a VERY small contribution to this ‘beauty’. Even as an image, it never fails to impress. So sad it’s no longer with us. A victim of over-engineering and politics...

Which is why I think it's possibly privately owned and the pilot was pushing his luck flying so low. Unless I see it again, which is possible, we'll probably never know.

                I'll agree with that.

Concorde, a fascinating plane Freddy. Many moons ago I had a walk through a prototype at Duxford, I found it very claustrophobic even without the seats in it.

Oh yes, quite small inside, and to be honest, not really practical. Compared to some, it’s not ideal, but as a feat of engineering, there’s nothing that comes close. As a young fella, I really didn’t appreciate the magnificence of it all, but now? Oh boy, was I lucky!

There aren't many privately owned in the UK, Sheal, and he would need permission to fly so low and could risk suspension, banning and extremely heavy fines without it. Not many pilots would risk the loss of their licence and jobs......which is why I think it is military. All aircraft have to submit a Flight Plan and such large planes carry Transponders identifying them on Radar. Any unauthorised deviations could end up with a RAF Fighter interception and reporting:hate-shocked:. I lean more towards it being a Military aircraft.:dunno::snorky:

Concorde used to fly over the flat we lived in, and such was the rumble things would regularly fall off shelves etc. God, I miss those beauties....

We went to Brooklands in the summer, and did their Concorde experience which was very good to be fair to them - I am only saddened that I will never have the opportunity to be on one in flight, and that the world is being deprived of one of the most impressive machines I have ever seen.

I really must get on a plane and go somewhere - never flown in my life, despite being heavily interested in planes in general

@Freddy - a virtual handshake to you my friend, for your efforts in Concorde; rest assured, those efforts live on in the hearts of people like me.

I remember back in the day folks complaining about the noise, but I loved it. That gut wrenching rumble? What’s not to like? :) I have some wonderful memories, along with sad ones. There were some great characters, some sadly, no longer with us...how time flies. I wasn’t lucky enough to take a flight on Concorde, that was preserved for the lucky few. Concorde used to take off on a fairly regular basis here, in Filton. I miss those days...

I still live within kicking distance of Heathrow, although oddly I am not under one of the main flight paths. Occasionally, we get one heading out to the US passing over us (there was one last week during the stormy weather that really shook the house which is very unusual) - - much as some complain about the noise, I am in the other camp - - I love to hear the rumble of a good jet engine, especially if it has RR stamped on the side.

I am in awe of guys like you and @ARMANDII who have worked on planes - all I have done is watched and listened.
