    I think you mean definitely rather than defiantly (unless that is a Freudian slip :heehee: ).

    Tom, which year are you in? The questionnaire, is it for a final year project or just a semester module? Either way - and I mean this in a helpful context - you really do need to refer to a dictionary/spellchecker because you will lose serious project points for neglecting to check your spelling and grammar. If it should be for a final year project, you would be well advised to seek advice from the librarians on how to formulate a questionnaire and which software they use for producing one. Then, once you have decided on the questions you wish to ask and drafted your questionnaire, get your project supervisor to go over it before you go live with it.

    I'll answer twice (for myself and for Mr "M" ) so you'll get two for the price of one ;)

    1) Roughly how many days a week would you say you'd garden?
    "M": At it's busiest every day; during the winter, barely at all!
    Mr "M": When "M" tells me to
    2) On average how much would you say it costs to maintain your garden?
    "M": Don't know
    Mr "M": She doesn't tell me
    3) Where you live is it an urban area, rural or other?
    "M": Rural
    Mr "M": Rural
    4) This may seem like a bit of a daft question as this is a gardening forum but i have to ask, is gardening something you enjoy doing or something you feel is a bit of a burden?
    "M": Enjoy :)
    Mr "M": Burden :th scifD36:
    5) Would you be more interested in something which could perform more than one task?
    "M": Depends on the tasks it could perform and how well it would perform them.
    Mr "M": :dunno:
    6) What is your favourite which tool do you use the most?
    "M": secateurs
    Mr "M": Spade
    7) Which take do you find most difficult?
    "M": Heavy work
    Mr "M": :dunno:

      1) Roughly how many days a week would you say you'd garden?
      Spring and summer every day at least a couple of hours, Autumn 5 to 10 hours a week.
      Winter 4 to 6 hours a week
      2) On average how much would you say it costs to maintain your garden?
      Leaving aside my time, which is the major input, and perennial plants and bulbs. Probably
      £50 to £100 a year.
      3) Where you live is it an urban area, rural or other?
      Urban
      4) This may seem like a bit of a daft question as this is a gardening forum but i have to ask, is gardening something you enjoy doing or something you feel is a bit of a burden?

      5) Would you be more interested in something which could perform more than one task?
      Like a gardener? Then what would I do, but I could never afford one anyway. I have always
      got on better with tools designed to do one job well as there is always a compromise
      somewhere.
      6) What is your favourite which tool do you use the most?
      Favourite: A strong sharp spade. Most used: Trowell
      7) Which take do you find most difficult?
      One I haven't done before. Apart from that all tasks are pretty much the same some just take
      more effort and time.

      1) Roughly how many days a week would you say you'd garden? Probably a total of 20 hours weekly more or less depends on the time of year.
      2) On average how much would you say it costs to maintain your garden? Average? weekly, monthly? Do you measure how much an hour I am worth to work, or the new plantings coming in, the time spent designing, researching new plants, transplanting time, my time cost? Or collectively all those together in one grand total. Or seasonal cost? But also you have to now figure the cost of my husbands time. Then the cost of the guys we get yearly to help us rake up the tons of leaves. Example just in bulbs we have 60,000 of them, you do the math.
      3) Where you live is it an urban area, rural or other? Guess you'd say rural area.
      4) This may seem like a bit of a daft question as this is a gardening forum but i have to ask, is gardening something you enjoy doing or something you feel is a bit of a burden? It is my joy. My escape from my stress job. Really can't wait till I retire to make the gardens all perfect.
      5) Would you be more interested in something which could perform more than one task? Not sure what you mean with this question.
      6) What is your favourite which tool do you use the most? My hands.
      7) Which take do you find most difficult? Raking the leaves and mulching out the gardens.

        1) Roughly how many days a week would you say you'd garden?
        Varies depending on season and how the year is going, but I would say 5 to 7

        2) On average how much would you say it costs to maintain your garden?
        Around £500 a year

        3) Where you live is it an urban area, rural or other?
        Urban

        4) This may seem like a bit of a daft question as this is a gardening forum but i have to ask, is gardening something you enjoy doing or something you feel is a bit of a burden?
        Both - there are days when it is an utter joy, and there are days when you just don't have the time but still have to do something because it needs done.

        5) Would you be more interested in something which could perform more than one task?
        I take it you mean tool? I already have some of the Wolf Garten range which have interchangeable tool heads that attach to handles, and they are generally very good; otherwise, it would depend more on the quality and the construction of the tools

        6) What is your favourite which tool do you use the most?
        :coughs: this is a family forum! :snork: :biggrin:
        Seriously though, no favourites really, but I do like a tool that is good quality

        7) Which take do you find most difficult?
        Anything that is really heavy or repetitive (arthritis!)

        Good luck!

        1) Roughly how many days a week would you say you'd garden?
        7 days a week as I have a poly tunnel and greenhouse as well as my garden..

        2) On average how much would you say it costs to maintain your garden?
        Excluding tools about £20-£50 depending on what plants I buy and seeds I sow..

        3) Where you live is it an urban area, rural or other?
        Was rural 40yrs ago, now semi-rural..

        4) This may seem like a bit of a daft question as this is a gardening forum but i have to ask, is gardening something you enjoy doing or something you feel is a bit of a burden?
        I personally do it out of enjoyment hence the amount I grow, but the "love" is something that has grown over the years..

        5) Would you be more interested in something which could perform more than one task?
        Would depend entirely what the 2 things were and the function of it..

        6) What is your favourite which tool do you use the most?
        Secatuers and small hand fork..

        7) Which take do you find most difficult?
        Just keeping on top of everything..

        1) Roughly how many days a week would you say you'd garden?
        Depends on time of year and weather, also how much time I have available. I try to do a day a week in the summer, a couple of hours a night in the greenhouse from about February to May and then once or twice a year I'll have a blitz on some project or other with maybe two or three other people for a weekend. I pay someone to cut may lawn, which is quite small but I work full time and just don't get enough time and then if there's a project like putting up new plant supports or building/repairing steps or a path I pay for that and that could be one day or several days work.

        2) On average how much would you say it costs to maintain your garden?
        Very difficult to answer, most years I would do some new project which will involve a one-off cost. Discounting that I would need to buy compost, weedkiller, jeyes fluid etc then usually at least one new tool, a few pots etc I would guess minimum maintenance costs me about £5 a week. Then there's the cost of cutting the lawn -depends how early and late in the year the grass is growing but I estimate £80 - £120 a year. Garden lights and heating for the greenhouse probably adds £40 or £50 a year to my electic bill. Visits to gardens and garden centres, being tempted by plants you've failed with before, will bump the costs up and then the sky's the limit

        3) Where you live is it an urban area, rural or other?
        very small town but I'd still say rural

        4) This may seem like a bit of a daft question as this is a gardening forum but i have to ask, is
        gardening something you enjoy doing or something you feel is a bit of a burden?
        I love it but even so sometimes it can be a burden - not enough to give it up though!!

        5) Would you be more interested in..... I don't use many different tools and I like the right tool for the job but I'd probably be tempted if someone invented an interesting gadget.

        6) What is your favourite which tool do you use the most?
        Depends on the time of year, recently loppers and secatuers but soon it will be my fork and then in the winter it will be my trowel.

        7) Which take do you find most difficult?
        (task?)
        It used to be mowing my small lawn but now I have someone else to do it everyweek. Any job is difficult if you don't have the right tools, now I think it's those heavy jobs whoch really need two pairs of hands - eg cleaning out the greenhouse or a shed, moving compost from one side of the garden to the other or up and down steps. I've recently tuned in to the joy of burning my garden waste so although I used to hate cutting back shrubs in the autumn I now love it!

        I do most of my 'gardening' at my edge of village 0.7 acre plot, rather than 'in my garden'
