I am thinking about knocking up a quick trough style planter - I don't have the time or the money for my more ambitious project this year - essentially, I want a fairly narrow trough that runs the length of my driveway that I can plant up with the likes of petunias, geraniums cosmos etc.

I am thinking of using decking boards, but how deep would I need to make a trough do you reckon?

Two decking boards deep so giving you approx 240mm 10" deep .
Plenty of ideas on Google images :blue thumb:

I agree with @HarryS . But...... if you look at window boxes, they are only about 8". I'm thinking the deeper box will retain moisture in between watering. :)

Two deep looks good to me - I would have to make mine longer and thinner though, or I would belt it with the car door getting out of the car
