    Again, thanks folks. [IMG]

As the vet was really uncertain about what had been going on, he asked permission to have a post mortem carried out, and it turned out that Tom had had an underlying heart problem that nobody had been aware of, and that is more usual in old cats, and associated with an over-active thyroid (which he ddn't have.)

Anyway, his irritable bowel syndrome didn't kill him, the heart problem did, although we think the general stress of the week or two without eating, and the regular visits to the vet because of it, probably didn't help. Still, it was obviously something that was just waiting to happen, and now it has.

Poor little Tom...... but at least he had a very active and full life, even if rather short. I don't think he'd have liked being a sick cat..... [IMG] [IMG]

Just saw this thread Dendy and like all the other guys and girls on here I'm thinking about your sad loss and sending you a great many (((HUGS))).

It's always hard to loose a baby and lets face it guys when your 'human children' are all grown-up your fur-babies really do become your babies, if you know what I mean?

It's an even bigger blow when they are so young as you don't think anything can happen to them, we lost our lovely Tiger this time last year and it was heartbreaking to see her go.

My thoughts are with you and your family Dendy I'm sure beautiful Tom will be sorely missed by all. [IMG] He touched your hearts and was a very lucky kitty indeed to be so loved by you.
