I would love to put traps on the allotment but I am thinking of my poor cats, they are always around.

I got some poison that is herbal stuff that is supposed to only kill rats don't know if something like that would be good for u Fancy. If u put it in a bit of drain pipe. The only thing is my rats didn't eat it but I've not checked it in a while

LMR, I wouldn't bother trying it..... most rats find it unn palatable and you will struggle to get an uptake, I think the brand name is 'Eradirat' or similar...... It is not used profesionaly.

A simple chicken wire or ply wood tunnel tunnel will prevent pets from being harmed, the hole only needs to be 2"

For most domestic situations the use of traps and removing the food source and or proofing ie chicken wire under compost bins or reducing the quantity of bird seed put down is the best and quickest approach to solving a rat problem.

Since my rat incident I watered it ( with lots of wee) and not seen one since. Mind you, I haven`t been up there all that often. It`s a bit pitiful taking my 6yr old daughter as bodyguard.
