    had you saved the draft?

and it's normally best to open a new tab instead of back arrow, to avoid losing the post

Also (don't hate me Rr) sometimes, a single mouse click does what it is meant to do; other times, it takes a double click.

This happens with: smilies, post reply and even create a thread.

      It's quite random too.

Now, before you ask (as I'm sure you must) I clean my cache regularly (but that's because I have a secret gaming habit  :mute: )had to click twice there before the smilie box opened for this post).

The intermittent double click thing: Are we sure its not just taking a moment to come back from the first click?

In programming terms, single click and double click are very different events, and in web development, we generally never use the double click event because its frowned upon (and not even implemented natively in most browsers). More likely then single click is doing it, but its just taking a moment to send a message up to the server, the server to respond, and the browser to take action based on the result. So you click once, nothing appears to happen. You click again, by which time the response to the first click is happening and it looked like a double click was needed.

Or is it literally not responding at all on the first click sometimes?

I have exactly the same problems 'M' but I put my post in another thread by mistake. :doh:It seems everything I wish to do within a thread needs to be clicked on either a second or third time. Regarding pictures I have a similar problem, I can't get them to load on the post. Having already typed on the post I then click 'Post Reply' and follow by deleting it. Strangely when I start a new post the pictures load with no problem.

I'm still needing to double LH mouse click to post + still having to have a 2nd attempt to Reply/Quote a post, and still can't log out on another laptop.

Don't wish to appear "rude", or even impertinent, Clue (or other web savvy types :heehee: ) but, I attended a course on programming more than 30 years ago, plus, had published my own website way back in the day before the "WWW" was in every household and even before the advertising agencies thought it a good idea to add a www addy to their TV commercials - which they have since stopped doing, in the main! (Even had my webpages promoted - back in the day!)

Now, admittedly, I haven't kept up with the technology - it moves so fast now, and I've kind of lost interest - but, I'm well aware of the one-click vs double click aspect.

Had it simply been a case of server waiting time, I wouldn't have mentioned it (it's now been a full minute since I clicked the smilie icon so I could add a winky .... still counting ... or, should I click a 2nd time? *Daren't click again for an "I don't know" smilie which may never come ... )

Ok, 2 minutes now since the first click ... going to 2nd click because I'm bored now ... YAY! ... lo and behold, a smilie bar :hapydancsmil:

Synopsis: "not responding -- at all -- on the first click -- *sometimes* :)

LOL: equally, with the "Post Reply" :p

Had to ask. You might have been what we in the industry sometimes call a 'panic presser', ie somebody who repeats the same action with increasing frequency just because the machine doesn't respond immediately:)

That's not a double-click (which as C1 says is not something that Browser's recognise, in the main, whereas in Windows itself Single and Double click can be programmed to do different things), but rather it is "first click didn't work. Clicking it again did".

Need to be careful with double-click (i.e. click twice in quick succession) in a browser as it is likely to perform the action twice - debit your credit card twice! or Open and then immediately Close something :(

The only scenario I've come across, in a browser, where "first click didn't work" is where Windows took the click to be set-focus (particularly if the focus was outside the window), rather than "click", but I can't see how that would be the case in this instance

I can simulate it though: Click on the LINK icon, the link pop-over form appears. Then click on the Smilie icon - the Link pop-over closes but the Smilies don't appear - that's coz the click (which could have been anywhere on the page, outside the Link pop-over), was just setting focus on the background, not actually "pressing" any button. But I'm sure that's not what you were doing, I'm just using that as an example of where set-focus is occurring instead of "click"

Several people have reported this, particularly on Smilie button, so there must be some commonality between those people's systems etc. Seems long odds but I wonder if it could be during automatic save-draft?

If anyone is having difficulty uploading photos if you want to send me a PM I'll send you my email address and you can email to me so I can try uploading as a test of whether its the file itself, in some way, or if it works for me then it must be something else.

the smile button on slower connections or older pcs can lag due to the amount of smilies we have.

as for on reply or quote , I can't replicate it.

most likely down to a combination of browser/java/ net speed etc

I've just tested uploading a photo using 'Upload a File' (drag and drop isn't working for me ) and it did it OK but took 30 seconds instead of the usual 15-20 seconds!
