    This is an interesting point.

The evening of the change over, I was going to reply to a post. I began typing it out, erased a bit, typed some more. Then, I thought better of it and just closed the window (didn't bother deleting the text because I wasn't hitting the reply button).

The thread moved on and, seeing a later reply decided to reply to that post so opened a window with that thread in it. Lo and behold, my un-posted previous reply attempt was still there in the reply box! I was surprised because that certainly isn't how it used to be.

NB: Clue has just started this thread Before you install FireFox WARNING

So, if anyone is thinking of changing browsers in order to solve any issues experienced on GC ... you may wish to think twice before looking to FireFox ;)

Ditto "M" - although not a problem - just happened on the tomato thread (was going to post last night) - but it was great dragging and dropping the picture in :dbgrtmb:

Wonder if it's the entire collection of all Moyra's drafts clogging up the pipes and causing issues  :heehee:

I am still unable to log out from GC on a 2nd laptop, which makes me unwilling to logon on our other 2 laptops.

            Anybody else getting this problem?

P.S. They are identical models, running identical OS, browsers, software, etc., both less than a year old, have plenty of RAM, Windows 8, IE10, etc. and I do not want to be told GC will only work properly if I use another browser!

            Just as a note:

I've just attempted to "paste" something into the post above (only a smilie) but, instead of the smilie I got ...

... a paste of a long post I'd made on a previous thread (which I'd "copied" on the off chance it would post again). So, that suggests GC "memory" is holding one heck of a lot of info (if we include all of Moyra's draft posts as well )

As you know, I don't know a lot about computers - but is there any reason why we need to log out of GC? I never bother. I just close the tab and, sometimes, shut the computer down. If I close the tab and then open a new one GC doesn't come up until I call up GC. Then, I don't have to bother logging on.

              That's interesting.

Inadvertently, I left my GC windows open earlier today, but, it automatically logged me out (time out?). Maybe we have different settings :)

I've just tried four times in another thread to tag our @"M" . Didn't come up with the dropdown of matched names. After a few more attempts just now, it does, and I've figured the pattern. It only does the popup after I've typed at least 3 characters, whereas before it used to start at 1 I think. Not a big deal I guess, as long as we know that's what it is, and it makes sense, its a common trick for reducing server round trips, but it appeared to be failing because as I say, I think it used to bring the dropdown after the first character.

It could cause problems for somebody using a shared (workplace?) computer if they could not log out meaning anybody else using that machine would/could be straight into GC.

save/restore button draft is used to restore the draft, all drafts are deleted once the post is submitted.

What does the word 'workplace' mean? :snork:

I know the word 'place' but don't understand the four letter word preceding it. Is it a swear word? :lunapic 130165696578242 5:
