Edged the front lawn by the box hedge tonight and gave it a quick trim.

Really pleased with how it's starting to look.

It was already there when we moved in but I believe its a Canada Red Cherry Tree. Bright pink blossom in the spring. :-)

I've been googling your tree @Guesty as I have a soft spot for trees with red leaves. :) It's botanical name is Prunus Virginiana 'Canada Red' also known as a Chokeberry.

It's described as very hardy and copes with all weather conditions and isn't adverse to growing amongst mountains. Sounds perfect for my windy coastal position. :) The leaves apparently start green in spring and turn red from early summer. Flowers are small and white, so perhaps yours isn't the 'Canada Red' but another form of Prunus Virginiana. Eventual height 20-30ft.

                    Sheal, you're a star...... :)

I had some chokeberries ( dried ) with my cereal the other day and I had no idea what they were. Now I know they're a form of cherry.
                    Thanks. :)

You have done a great job on the lawn Guesty. My top tip for lawn care is don't buy a Cocker Spaniel , Molly thinks our back lawn is a sand pit  tailwag.gif

                        Thanks all!

Sheal that's great research!!! Been bugging me for a long time what it is. Thank you.

I'm off to get some more box hedge the weekend to fill in the gaps a bit more. The ones I planted are spaced too far away I think. What's the recommended distance apart for new box?

Thanks Anthony and Guesty. :) I could help you with a fair few types of hedging Guesty but I know nothing about Box, sorry! @Lolimac may be able to help you with this as she's nurturing it at the moment. :)
