    It's a matter of choice I reckon, FC.:snork: I had some huge Bees flying around in the last few days, including one that decided to have a rest on the Kitchen door mat [which fascinated my cats:cat-kittyandsmiley:]
    I use very little Chemical sprays, although I do use RoseClear in the late evening when the Bees and other insects are tucked up in bed. If I have a plant that is being attacked badly I will place a black bin bag over it, make a hole in the top, and spray into the hole which stops the spray going anywhere but on the required plant. But that is a rare occasion and I would rather assassinate the Lily Beetle by other means:heehee:

    I have found 5 so far this year, all deceased.

    They also like Fritillaria so far they are leaving mine alone.:phew:

    I have them in the borders and a lot in large pots, with a seed tray full of bulbils from last years plants.

      Spoke too soon 3 of the little devils on my Fritillarias and 1 on a Lilly today.

        I have two clumps of white fritillarias and that's where I keep finding them at the moment, they're like "flies round a jam pot" :snork:, but the flowers are white and they're red and with the warm sun they keep sunning themselves ~ fools :heehee: , swiftly targetted and terminated :paladin::heehee: :snork:

        Keep checking my lilies but found none on them so far...fingers crossed :)

            Well the little red devils kept coming out in the sun today, everytime I checked I kept finding them sun bathing and then errmmm squished :eeew::heehee::biggrin:

            Still not found any on the lilies though :)

              They're pretty stupid, Sheal, as they don't move quickly but will fall off the leaf if they are alarmed and I get them on the ground!!:snork:

                It must have been mating day yesterday for these things! I thought I'd got away with it this year but the little red bugs were everywhere!

                  Found one last night so got it and its eggs. Surprisingly good at hiding for something bright red.

                  This was just before I spotted the vine weevil though so I have more pressing problems to deal with :frown:

                    Four gone to Bug Heaven when I found 3 on the ring of Fritillaria in the bottom of the walk around border. The other one I found on one of the large pots of Lilies and he was gone, gone, gone!!

                    Have been reading this thread with interest. I have never seen 1 of these red devils I'm glad to say. I have dozens of Lilies so they'd have a field day if they did appear. Do they arrive with pot grown Lilies? I only buy bulbs and so far seem to have avoided them...here was me thinking I had just about every garden enemy known to man (Deer, escapee ewes with lambs in tow, flopsies, snails, slugs,black fly (made an appearance today on my Sambucas Black Lace and Euonymus Red Cascade) green fly, white fly,spider mite, moles and last I can think of atm Council workmen!!!! I'm hoping I don't have to add Lily Beetles to the ever growing list:gaah:

                    They lay there eggs on your lilies and when they hatch they cover themselves in $#!+, so if you see that you have been visited. One of my neighbours thinks they are spotless ladybirds. I don`t believe they arrive in pots they fly in.
