I think most of us would be envious of the amount of leaf mould you get!!! I get some blown in from the fields but not a great amount.

The shovel I was referring to was the one in the pic being used to move the sand from the truck. It has no handle to it, and it looks a bit awkward for digging having nothing on the end to hold to get force behind it. Having never used one........what would I know:heehee::D

Brilliant, Redstar. It gives us all a good insight as to how your bare soil garden is in fact not bare soil but full of plants just waiting to jump out of the ground.:love30::love30::D

Thanks, and yes it is something else. I know beginning of May I will be carting out at least 3 wheelbarrels of green that are spent plants so the "next" stage has room to grow. Yep, all the tall phlox sticks cut, the left over astilbies cut, the huge dried up leaves of hosta raked away, the leaves of the wiegela gone to the leaf pile, and not to forget, there are 7 hydranga shrubs in there. Two hummingbird fothergills, one mock orange shrub (the middle). Many hostas, lost count. And lots of bulbs.

The one issue I do have with the bulbs there is ---as I have planted those darling alliums, (of the onion family) the ones that shot up with a thin green first, I have to be so carefull, because there is some onion grass that loves it there also. Many times I 've had to chew down on one just to tell the difference.

Above are mini daffs blooming, the blue flower in the front are stargazers, both of these bloom at the same time as crocus, which are also blooming among these but off camera.

Garden walk around today March 21, 2012.
See my beautiful Almond tree, and some of the 60,00 daffs. The other green coming up are tulips and English canterberry bells. Still need cleaning out and weeding in the hill side. Still offering nice thick rib eye on the grill for any takers to assist. If not then you see my task this weekend.

Little fellow was inherited from my father-in-laws yard. He liked to have fountains seems the fountain part is gone. But he is cute. Not sure where I will place him yet, for now on the back step.
