love my Callicarpa. When the leaves turn yellow it again offers up another visual delight. hope the yellow comes through in this picture.

wanted to share this story with you all, not sure where to put it, so here it lies in my garden thread. When I was about 10 years old we moved into this house in Cleveland, Ohio. It was the first day we drove up on the driveway. Leaving in a car as a passenger in the back seat of another car was a old women who had just been the owner of the house. She looked over at her long line of beautiful roses, and the words she said are still with me today, "Oh my babies". As a gardener today, I know her feelings about those pretty plants I care for. I wish I had been more in tuned then, to tell my mom to call her to tell her that my dad keep them in good order for the years we lived there, as he was also a gardener.
Today, as many of us are aging, we too will look upon our gardens and wonder what will happen to them. Thank goodness I have, hopefully 20 more years, and most of that will be retirement time, yeah.

Looking forward to 4 new bulbs I planted last fall: Brodiaea Corrina and Gladiolus communis byzatinus (planted together in multi circles gatherings weaving around in my garden. ) Ipheion uniflorum rolf fiedle planted on edges of a garden, and Lucojum gravetye giant planted in the front walkway. The should start in later April to all of May. total amount of bulbs are 300.

Reading my new "Fine gardening" mag. ran across a new (to me) shrub called Philadelphus "Snow Dwarf" only grows 3 foot by 3 foot, and zone 3 to 7, all wonderful. I like small shrubs to tuck into little areas, planning to get a few for my slope garden down in the valley.

thank you Paul. I am planning to take a few days off soon from work to work in my gardens now that the snow is gone. Its hard to pack it all into two weekend days to keep up with it all. Stay tuned for more pics./video's . I will have to look at your blog. Never got into blogging myself.

Contacted my favorite nursery, and yes, they will have the Snow Dwarf mock orange shrub. So planning to get about 3 or 4 of them. Then I will be also getting some lower growing very hardy rose shrubs in a color, which will all go into my slope garden. Its just still to cold to go crazy in that area, and still in the clean up stage of all the gardens. But at least that is a plan. My focus is to continue with planting for the slope garden, to fill it in.
