Remember when ...

My late friend Rosi bought these for us . boyfriend and I's engagement pressie in 1966. I just have to still use them even though I have a new set..
sadly only two left from the set..I think the handles are Bakelite.

 

These are photos off the net (as was the breadbox) as they are not on view but the phone and doorbell we had in Bucks in use.





... and this is our current kitchen doorbell in desperate need of renovating ...

 

The bell looks rusty, so maybe let it be as a character bell.....so not brass then...nice goose though.
Love your other photos....I was reading up about Past Croydon, where I was born and grew up ..... an hour later I was living so many old memories with still plenty more I wish to read about.
On a Day like this here, it is keeping me very occupied..The most fascinating thing so far for me is Kennards Store that eventually became Debenhams. they had a little zoo and ponies we could ride on, all in the old arcade..it was literary like an Aladdins Cave...Now Croydon is a place I would sadly avoid.
