    Did you play it on a dansette mono or His Masters Voice (with the dog and speaker logo)

    Or was you posh and had a sterogram with a lift up lid in the middle :D

    You bad lads :D Yes initially both at the same time - well practiced at sitting down straight backed to avoid showing stocking tops and above - no doubt you ageing lotharios will remember the some of the sights around at that time. :D

    I also had a Dansette record player. But my first ever 78 was of David Whitfield singing "Angelus".

    But at the time jjordie had the wind-up gramaphone, I also still have the 78 of that time of Johnny Ray's "Cry"

    I rememember it well Fran, stocking tops...well I've had to censor myself, part of the fun of courting.

    Never mind stocking tops - do you remember 'Liberty Bodices' with rubber buttons? These were for younger girls and were yuk to wear!

    I have heard of them, sort of under cardigan? no sister found things out the hard way, the odd slap here and there.

    Liberty bodices!! I remember them too - they were like a little thick waistcoat that you wore under your jumper but on top of your vets - I mean vest! They were underwear and, like bloomer knickers, a definite no-no for anyone to see.

    Speaking of which, my mum always stitched a little pocket in my bloomers for my handkerchief!
