Both mine are Eden (as was the one I bought new when I was a teenage - a couple-or-three!! years ago).

Have you considered a polytunnel (rather than a blow-away)? Like Steve R's which is a quality job (and I should imagine significantly cheaper than a Glasshouse).

and his second one (a bit further along that thread):

and details of the Make here:

but no doubt Steve will have some suggestions on brands etc.

Chopper also built a Polytunnel which seemed very robust (although I haven't seen Chopper on the forum much recently)

Pretty sure his was from First Tunnels

I looked at 'proper' polytunnels, but there is no way I could cope with one of them as I have to site my GH on a patio area - - if I wasn't renting, it would be a different ball game as I could lift the patio and build whatever I fancied.

One thing is for sure, I won't entertain another blowaway now - far too much hassle, and no longevity at all.

Sorry to hear you've had a bad day FC. I don't know anything about Eden greenhouses. Mine is a Halls 8x6 with toughened glass. I bought it three years ago this coming January and paid just under £600 with the glass. It was shipped to the island with no extra cost, so I consider I got a good deal.

If you're not in a hurry, keep and eye on the internet in January, when the sales are on, they come up a fair bit cheaper then. :)

My blowaway cover won't zip up at all now - that, and I am running out of time before I go back to work which will consume most of my weekends up to Christmas and beyond, so I kinda want it done with now.

I'm tempted by their 6 months 0% option, which will let me breathe a bit to sort out the funding properly.

Its not cheap at a smidge over £800, and that is for the mill finish - the green one is over £1k (and I am not that fussed what the colour is); the toughened is adding about £200 to the price at a guess, but its non-negotiable with the wee one knocking about (its that or polycarbonate, and there are few polycarbonate ones knocking about).

Well, the deed is done. One 8 x 10 double door greenhouse with safety glass is ordered, and I am to await a telephone call to arrange delivery. :)

I've already got a couple of 35w strip light fittings that I have whipped from under the kitchen cupboards - replacing them with LED lighting when it arrives, hopefully tomorrow, and have a good quality outdoor extension cable that I can use to plug my radio and lights into for my days 'pottering' in Jan/Feb - its also man enough to run my oil filled rad (used it this year in the poly) for those early days protecting the babies as we wait and hope for the weather to improve :)

I've even got a couple of rolls of silver foil backed bubble wrap insulation sitting in the shed so I can insulate it over the winter.

Given that the brand new poly didn't even see a single plant before the zip failed, I arrived at the conclusion that they are a false economy - and with the best respect n the world, I have never seen anything from poundstreacher that isn't tat.

The failed poly today saw the day wasted, and if I had to take time off work for it that would equate to 150 quid lost - that, coupled with the fact that my current poly hasn't lasted 6 months, and it soon starts to look very expensive
