There is an issue with me setting the date. its just not that simple. There is a thing called Family Medical Leave, where its a bank of time off should you need it for injury /family issues etc. Over the years with this company, when I could not use up my vacation time in the year, the balance would shift to the Family Medical Leave bank. And the only way it can be gotten out if I have a doctors excuse because of ---me ---or a family member needing me to care from them, or some other medical reason I can't work. Well fortunately, none of that is out there. I do not want to leave behind 765 hours of time, that is $$$$. My only recourse is to get to a Psychiatrist and tell him to write me out for "Job Stress". So, that is something I have to do. Now its getting it done. Know a few Psychiatrist I can use, as my individuals go to them, and they know me over the years. Its just getting it done. The hard part for me, is when I am out they can't put someone else in that position, so that means that my co-workers will have to do my job.

I've been earlĂ˝ retired almost since our daughter started at primary school (she's finished uni now and doing a year's internship before going back for the masters she's deferred to do that).

My long early retirement has been spent working on a plot of about 2/3 acre, growing loads of apples for pressing, erecting 3 polytunnels, growing masses of whatever we fancied, preserving loads of home grown and foraged produce, etc.

But as real retirement age looms, I have no desire to try and continue that lifestyle. My plans are to aquire just a single 10 pole plot, erect a polytunnel in our garden and take things easy. I don't want to beat myself up trying to continue with it.

It's time for us to be no longer be dictated to by the need to be around for tending early seed sowings, constantly potting stuff up, weeks of rotorvating, spending weeks planting out, constantly watering polytunnels, weeks of planting out (and watching out for frosts), more watering, constant picking/cutting, and then again watching out for early frosts.

I've got plenty of other stuff I want to do.

            Nope it is true. 765 hours X $$$$ = lots of $$$$$

If they would just pay it out, then I can leave. Still my only possibility is to get to a Psychiatrist, explain it, and maybe get him to write me out for Job Stress. Have to make a point in getting to one of them soon. I could also throw in the sentence of "not sure I want to retire and want to try it out first". Its an issue. Sometime I think if I wait a bit some better answer will surface.
