They don´t eat rhubarb in Italy you cannot find it anywhere. Once I found a forlorn plant in a nursery and THEY asked me what part of it is cooked. Lol.

In Gernamy you can buy at the supermarket and I really like it a lot in several recipes. It doesn´t become mushy and horrid if you bake it instead of boiling or stewing it. It is definitely something I want to plant in the garden.

I think we have got to the stage where we agree to differ :thumb: :D. Any of the ingredients I use with rhubarb are also really good on their own - blackberries, ginger (yum, yum), apple juice, custard etc. - but the rhubarb is also good just on its own as well :D.

This is beginning to sound like the Marmite discussion ;) :D

I hate Rhubarb:eek: can't stand the bitter taste of it but grow and cook it for Mr Kandy because he loves it:thumb:

I thought the gravy on the raost dinner etc was to stop the food drying up on the plate, but knowing me I 've got that one wrong again:rolleyes:;):D:o:p

Have to admit I'm not too keen on rhubarb either, unless its covered in crumble/pastry and drowned in custard first (so i can't taste it) :)

The only time I have bothered to grow Rhubarb deliberately was because it looked nice near my small pond, and I didn't have room for the giant rhubarbi looking plant that grows about 8 feet tall, Can't remember the name of it tho'

300 years ago, when I was a kid, there used to be a joke around about rhubarb. Something along the lines of an old guy saying that he put horse manure on his and the yokel saying thats' horrible, we always has custard on ours.:D I think that the taste of rhubarb would probably be enhanced by horse manure ;)

Anybody else got views on that?

Used to love chunks of it raw dipped in sugar. Now seldom use it when 'mature', but force it and in spring really enjoy it cooked with the last of our stored apples and/or dehydrated strawberries.
