Kandy and Liz - and everyone,
The poem that Liz put on the previous page is a lovely and well thought out re-arrangement of a poem that was written for the death of a child - which is very appropriate as pets are part of the family. It was very thoughtful of someone to put it through Liz's letterbox.

    The original is entitled:-
'To All Parent' and is by Edgar Guest.

I wouldn't want to put it on this thread unless Kandy agreed but can post it elsewhere if anyone is interested in it.

Shiney, thanks very much. I have found various versions of this poem on the web under the name of 'Lend Me a Pup', [and also versions for a bird and a cat] but never managed to find an author. I realised when I found the different versions that an original must be out there somewhere!
As I live in a very small village and had been here less than a year, it is a mystery to me who knew my Blossy had died, and also knew where I lived, but didn't call. In the end I put a note in my window thanking the donor. Perhaps it was my guardian angel!
Since then I have passed it on to 3 others who have lost a pet, and like the Rainbow Bridge story it is always a comfort.
Kandy, your pictures of Tina are lovely, I hope they bring your happy memories to the fore.

Shiney.I tried printing off the poem last night, but it looks like the cartridge is on it's way out.I would like to change the wording slightly from him to her as Tina was a lady dog, then I would like to frame it.

I shall have to find the poem you talked about, but have been too sad to look for it.

The poem about losing a child would be good but perhaps under a new topic,as this one is mainly for pets.
The thought was there though Thankyou.

It would possibly give some comfort to any one who has lost a child

High up in the courts of heaven today
    a dog angel waits
with the other angels she will not play
but sits alone at the gates
i know my mistress will come says she
and when she comes she will call for me.

she sees the spirits pass her by
as they hasten towards the throne
and she watches them with a wistfull eye
as she sits by the gates all alone
but she knows if she waits patiently
some day her mistress will come to me.

and her mistress far on the earth below
as she sits in her easy chair
    forgets and sometimes whistles low
for the dog that isnt their
and the dog angel pricks up her ears
and dreams its the mistresses voice she hears

and i know when at length her
    mistress waits
outside in the dark and cold
for the hands of death to open the gates
that leads to the courts of gold
    the dog angels eager bark
will comfort her soul in the
    shivering dark...

I have been their so i know how you feel..all the best..wf

I've just now come into Pets Corner Kandyfloss and I am so sorry to hear about Tina. She looks like she was a lovely friendly dog and I know you and Mr Kandy are missing her terribly. When I looked at her photo I immediately thought that she had stars in her eyes, so when you are out at night and see two stars close together, then it is Tina looking down at you. My thoughts are with you and I had a cry too.

That's a lovely idea to frame the poem once you have changed the wording. I'm sure it will be a great comfort to have the poem as well as all those lovely pictures of Tina.

There will always be a hole in your heart but your happy memories of her will help to fill it. She is still around somewhere out there and will be looking after you.

Thankyou Shiney.I seem to keep saying that to you just lately.

Did you see the photos I put on the thread Remembering Tina?I think it is on muppets.

They are of her when she was four months old and then onwards. We have some good ones of her to put on here to show everyone

No not at all Gogs. Please feel free to say whatever you feel.I put the item about Tina's passing so that others that were/are in the same position as us will see that the end for their pets can be done with campassion and with dignity.

I had the dread of what the end would be like because of the stories that people had told us.At least I have now seen it for myself.

Kedi-Gato,yes I see what you mean about two stars in her eyes, now I will think of that whenever I go out on a starry night...thanks

    Rosa,
Thanks for the sketch.Very true to live as everyone thought when she was younger that she was a "Fox" not a Dog
