Oh yes. They were the small wood wasps and where no trouble as long as I did not knock the box as I passed it to get behind the garage.
On a hot day there was always at least one wasp stood at the entrance fanning like crazy. I assume to get some air into the nest.
If you look at the front of the box on the video you notice how clean the wood looks where they have been chewing it to pulp for the nest.
You could say they where eating themselves out of house and home!

There was grand event in York today.
You may have heard the Yorkshire regiments recieved new colours yesterday.
Today all four regiments were together in a very rare event to march through York to the Minster for a service of dedication.
Over 1000 on parade makes it the biggest parade second only to trooping the colour in London.

By golly that's impressive for a tiny camera Robert!
I've been looking at some of your Youtube videos and they are great.

My DSLR takes quite good quality video and I'd like to upload to Youtube to share with family and friends, but as far as I can determine I'd need to do some editing and possibly file conversion. At present I'm producing vids in MPEG4 format. Can you recommend any software? I've got MGI Video Wave which I've used in the past, but it's way behind the times now.

    Hi Dave
I use Cyberlink Power Director for my video editing but it costs a bob or two.
I sometimes use windows movie maker (free) and if I remember correctly it has a good choice of file conversion.
You may even have it installed if you are using windows. Try a search string for movie maker.

U tube will now accept most file formats and I have found the below from thier website.

    Videos can be...

    • High Definition
    • Up to 2 GB in size.
    • Up to 15 minutes in length.
    • A wide variety of formats

    YouTube video requirements and recommendations

YouTube accepts video files from most newer digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones in either an .AVI, .MOV, or .MPG file format. According to their site, videos saved with the following settings convert and display the best:

    • MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
    • 320x240 resolution
    • MP3 audio
    • 30 FPS
I took a quick test vid with my DMC-FX38 this morning as a mov. file and its uploading to utube as I speak.
Its only a few seconds of snow underfoot but shows what can be done.
Change the setting to 720p for best results
The under mentioned video is now removedand I have produced a new one below.
    http://www.youtube.com/user/capney?feature=mhum#p/a/u/0/UWKQo5tsXfw
Looks like MPEG4 will give best results.
Be prepared for long upload times. You really need a good broadband speed.
According to YouTube, for users with a high-speed broadband internet connection, the upload time is usually in the range of 1-5 minutes per MB (e.g., a 10MB file would take 10-50 minutes to upload).

A short test video from my Panasonic DMC-FZ38. I used PowerDirector to edit and render the video.
It was produced as an MPEG AVCHD 1920x1080 file and uploaded to Utube.
As you run it change the setting from 320p to 1080pHD for best results.

    [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWKQo5tsXfw"]YouTube - DMC FX38 Movie test mpeg4 AVCHD 1920x1080[/nomedia]

Depending on the speed of your download you may have to pause for awhile for the video buffer to fill.
Please let me know what you think of the quality.
