That is what I read. It seems to block the pores on the exoskeleton of soil pests and so they suffocate.
There was something about using it as a spray, but as with most sprays there is a problem with bees.
The stuff itself is mainly tiny crystals of silica, which is the most common element and is found naturally in soil. Present too in human cells.
Thinking about it, I am sure we bought something like it for our hens when they had feather mites.

I'm now wondering how you would use it on hens.
If it's tiny particles don't affect the chickens, do you dust their feathers with it?

Its used on hens for the Red Mite problem and also on animals for internal and external bugs, also a Food quality type for human consumption !
Just look around the web for using it on and in hens.

Do not buy the cheaper type of DE used in swimming pool filtration which contains unwanted addatives.

Would be cautious about using DE in a spray , surely once dried the particles could be blown into the air and your face ?

Did see comment it works on Ants as well.

We sprinkled the powder under their wings and round their backsides. We also used it as a dust in the hen coop and on the perches and in the nest boxes. The can eat it witout coming to any harm from what I can discover.
