What a shame! I could have come over and watched - notice I said 'watched' and not 'helped', lol. I know there is a waiting list for allotments here as Ray had one for a while - he kept chickens:)

Be prepared for hard work but it gives you something to aim for everyday and your thoughts about having a seating area make it sound lovely. Hope you get something soon.

    cheers

hi takemore i know wicked guys hehe, he called me at teatime and said he would pick me up, he didnt want me to see it before so him and his mate been cleaning it up these past 2 weeks, they are going at 7 in the morning to dig some more and they been putting fence and a door up with a lock on it, the whole site you cant get in without a key so its pretty private allotments anyone just cant walk in and best of it is, theres a shop thats sells compost, flowers and seeds half price and i can park my car in the grounds its an excellent site.
im made up cant wait to get started and make my mark

Many Congratulations Rosa:gnthb: I've been saying to you for ages it is a pity you hadn't got a garden where you could grow some flowers now you can do both, flowers and veggies:D Take it slowly as you need to get used to the exercise because if you do too much at once you will mess up your back.Don't forget to get some gardening gloves and you might want to get some cheap buckets in which to put the weeds.:)

Good luck and keep us informed as to how it goes.I will have to put up some more photos in my allotment thread so you can see what you could grow. You will be able to grow some sweet peas up your arch and either a clematis or a nice climbing rose:)

Oh and you will need some watering cans{plastic as they are lighter} and there was something else I had thought of but have now forgotten it:dh::scratch: You might be better to leave the greenhouse putting up until the spring then it won't have got damaged if there is a lot of winter snow or wind, but that is up to you.Are you buying any staging for the greenhouse,as it will give you back ache having all your seed trays on the floor.Thats another thing you will need, seed trays in which to sow your seeds plus flower pots for when you prick the stuff out plus compost and fertiliser.:D

Penny, the key will be for the gate that you can see at the far end of the plot.Over here in the UK you have to lock the gates or thieving toe rags will come onto the plots and steal anything they fancy like your equipment or vegetables:(

thanks for the wonderful comments takemore, katherna , penny and kandy,
penny as kandy says you need a locked entrance to keep people out so we have a locked door to our allotment also the whole allotment site is surrounded by big steel fencing and a massive steel fenced gates see i need a key to get in the entrance which im getting on tuesday.
kandy, i have got some watering cans and im buying some staging for my greenhouse, got garden gloves, the shop on the premises sells large bags of compost so buying some to put over my garden area soil.
for my arch im buying a clematis montana, honeysuckle, jazmine and lots of flowers for my garden area.
when i get a bit more done will take some pics of my areas progress
