@Verdun the plant leaves on the right side nearest the shed are very weak and my hubby couldn't move it at first because of taking photo's plus getting them around but that plant cost me £25 half price two years ago and is really getting sturdy there, i did tell them...i said they're not 50p plants mate, verdun the attitude was terrible.

That same neighbour when my hubby put the garden spot light up...after 2 days asked we to drop it, just gets you mad :mute:

Maybe some pruning needed to balance and shape Gail?

Have had fun n games with neighbours in the past......feelings, emotions and deeds ran high. A "bloke" thing where we competed for the most stupid behaviour......but I was young and I was right, of course! :snorky:
I have intervened when an elderly neighbour was bullied by her neighbour......now, he was a nasty piece of work.

@Verdun i lifted the leaves up the best they would go and it had throwed it out of straightness, so i pushed against it as it's very stern in the ground but at least it's nearly back straight..i'm going to leave it Verdun and hope it sorts itself if not then i'll start pruning back.

I knew this part had to be correct
but I was young and I was right, of course! :snorky:

It makes you wonder sometimes what's going on with them because me and my hubby live quiet lifes...we'd help anyone and then you get people like you've stated can be nasty pieces of work  madness

These roses in pots do look nice but seldom last. More often than not, like with potted chrysanths around xmas time, they have little or no roots.

Well, I'm not so sure, Mike, I have had a climbing rose, White Skyliner" in a half barrel for over 8 years and it's doing fine.:hapfeet::hapydancsmil::dunno: I've bought bare root roses from several suppliers in the Winter and potted them in a 3 litre pot to make roots and then potted them on into larger containers or into the ground.

I'd like to read any comments on this from @wiseowl but, regarding roses in pots from my own experiences.

I would never underplant them. They need not only space for the roots to develop, but also prefer to have air around them. When they are planted, I would add 30 grams of Mycorrhizal Fungi to each one, just as I would if I was planting them in the garden.

Where the rose joins the root stock can usually be seen easily. That point would be at least 10cm below the soil level. If the plants are bare rooted, I would let them stand in room temperature water for at least 30 minutes before planting, as well as soak the soil in the pot well both before and after planting.

Do that and they'll usually grow quite well.

Thanks, Gail. I bought it from a commercial rose grower, [we have a lot in Cheshire], after explaining to him what I thought I wanted as a climbing rose in a half barrel by the Kitchen door.
He took me around and showed me what I thought I might like, taking his time and not pushing any particular rose. I settled for "White Skyliner" which he immediately dug up for. He does a lot of Roses Shows and showed me some that he'd got ready for an RHS Show, which were magificent. So I asked him how he managed to get the roses to grow so well in containers and he told me that 3 months before a show he'd take the roses out of their containers and trim the roots and then put them back with a weekly feed.........it obviously worked:love30::snorky:

I’ve read that before. If the plant gets too big, prune the plant and the roots and start again.

                      G.

I've probably got around 30 or so within a 15 miles radius to me, Gail. Arley Hall, one of my favourite gardens and Plant Nursery and only 8 miles from me, has at least 4 on the little country lane leading to it.:coffee::snorky:
