Hi Simbad, I was searching for suitable roses to climb up the sides of the Arbour just after I'd built it and not having much success. Then I paid a visit to Barnsdale [the late great Geoff Hamilton's place] and walking through the gardens came to a trellis entrance leading into another themed garden. As I walked through the entrance I was surrounded by a delicious scent that just stopped me in mid step. Looking up I saw the Entrance was just smothered in blooms from a rose. A quick look for the label got me the name "Alchemist" and I knew it was one of the roses I wanted. The other rose on the South side is "Compassion" which was in one of Woo's threads:love30: .........so it's his fault:heehee:

Following all the above beautiful roses dare I show the only 2 that I have in the garden. The Apricot coloured one has only 2 flowers on it and the climbing one has quite a few - must try harder after seeing such fine specimens in this thread.

        Well here are my efforts

Fern when I can get my camera back off my son who has taken it fishing I shall try and get a good photo of them. I might have a look back to see if I already have a photo as I know I did take one some time back. My trouble is getting the photo's up on here but I will try.

My pink patio rose which bloomed wonderfully last year still has no buds on it yet.
I removed the top layer of John innes 3 and replaced it with new in the spring.
Threw some growmore on the top of the soil.
There has been a few yellow leaves on the bottom of the rose.
Is it possible to over feed roses?

Hi Mowgley yes you can overfeed anything ,and make sure its not junk food, but just be patient a lot of Roses are very late this year because of the weather we have had, never feed a Rose after July or you could end up with soft wood that cannot take the winter.

Thanks all, I like the second picture I took of 'Blue For You' it shows just about every stage and change of colour as the rose opens. 'Purple Tiger' I'm a little disappointed with as it's not purple but a very dark red unlike the pictures shown on the web, which can't be trusted.
