Growing up we had roses growing along the chain link, very simple flower, pinkish white with a single row of petals around the middle?? I was told it was an Alexandra rose. I've done a search but can't find one like it, can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Rob

Thanks wiseowl but nothing like our old one. It had one, perhaps two layers of petals around the edge with the whole centre open almost flat, slightly dished and would run along the chain link for at least 10 feet.
It was probably a wild rose or rambling as the house was newly built on farmland, I think we had the name wrong too.
        Edit,
entered rambling rose on search and found the one...dog rose, must have had a mind blockage, now to find some.

As a young boy, in the 1940's we had a rose called. The Alexander rose, it grew on a trellis with I believe a Dorothy Perkins.

Definitely a dog rose. We always had wrong names, even the kids, my mum made them up. I was tinribs:help:
I've seen some but not available until November.
