I thought that but you need to look up the words and the meaning.

Seems to be suggesting that we rebuild Jerusalem in England. Something to do with it's current location being dark and satanic.

Still a good song. The lyrics almost lend themselves to a heavy metal piece.

EDIT: In fact someone's done it.

      To quote:-

‘And did those feet in ancient time’ – also the hymn’s first line, and alternate title – is a poem written by William Blake around 1808. Taken from the preface to his great work Milton: A Poem in Two Books, the poem was inspired by the legend that Jesus might have travelled, with Joseph of Arimathea, to England – to Glastonbury, to be precise.

I always thought it was a hymn because I remember it from school.

Good morning England's anthem at Commonwealth Game? Instead of God Save the Queen, which is the national anthem, England's anthem for the Commonwealth Games is Jerusalem:smile:

In 2010, the Commonwealth Games Council for England conducted a poll of members of the public to decide the anthem.
The three options were God Save the Queen, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory.
The clear winner was Jerusalem with 52 per cent of the vote compared to Land of Hope and Glory with 32 per cent and God Save the Queen with 12 per cent.
