oh wow! i've only just caught up with this thread.

Glad to hear that you have power back again, Sheal. That will teach me to complain about the regular dumps of 12" that we've been having here. At least our snowdrifts are just 3 foot deep (v hard to stop laughing when your dog trips over a bit of ground in deep snow, and dives head-first into a drift!)

Hope you are able to fully shake the cold. I'm sure the roses are actually toasty-warm under that snow :)

Nice to see you back Sheal! Cracking photos too - reminds me of the bad snowfall we had back in D&G in the mid-nineties ('95?) when we built a snow buddah.

Hope you are feeling better too?

Thanks to everyone again. My cold is a lot better now thank you. :dbgrtmb:

Circumstances haven't changed as yet and we still only have a northern exit from the village, which in road terms is described as passable. Our village grocery shop is very low on supplies and that has become an issue today.

The village was the worst hit on the island and there are still people without power purely because they can't be reached. The village has one road that goes straight through south to north and another that comes in from the west. You have to bear in mind being a small island approx. 35 x 9 miles we have no major roads here and no dual carriageways. We have five main 'A' roads, one of which runs from south to north through my village.

The picture you see below wasn't taken by me as it's just not possible for me to get there, however it gives you an idea what has to be contended with at the moment. This road is part of the T.T. course and runs from the south, down into and through our village. It's known as Cronk-y-Voddy (pro. Cronk-er-Vothee) in Manx and is one of the famous straights of the course. It's approx 2 to 3 miles from us.

wow, Im speechless. The intensity of snow for that lot to drop must have been insane... how close is your village to the sea? I assume it's on the west side of the island, apparently the east side was relatively untouched.

Blimey, have there been food riots at the local shop?

Have you got seeds you can sprout for fresh greens?

Hemp carpets make a good tobacco substitute, so i'm told.
