Got a mailing from Tesco today saying May16th to June 26th is the last ever double up offer, apparently it was too confusing for the customer :nonofinger:

Wasn't confusing for me in the slightest: I refuse to shop at Tesco :mute:

From being able to buy laptops, cameras, etc. at 'half price' using points obtained mainly by recycling ink cartridges bought when on special offer + multi-save + with bonus points + online cashback so that we also got completely free canal boat holidays and used virtually free ink to print vouchers and make even greater savings, and buying insurance, etc. online and getting Topcashback, converting to CC Points, then doubling up during promotions, also buying cheap mobile phones that came with top up vouchers then using that voucher in conjunction with a different money off top up voucher and a conditional spend voucher, then recycling the phone and getting enough points to make a profit on just the phone after 'double up'.

During one promotion 'frozen food' was included whilst there was also an instore leaflet with something like £3 off £10 frozen food vouchers included which meant when using 'double up' + vouchers + buying Quorn products on multi-saves, or Pizzas with manufacture's money off vouchers made everything incredibly cheap.

We've never been 'confused', but Tesco may have been.

One of the funniest Tesco Clubcard points stories I've ever heard was when Tesco were offering £10's worth of points with their Technika TVs, but some people found that they were getting those points on much cheaper Technika TV brackets and HDMI cables, which made it worthwhile buying them to get the £10's worth of points, then use them to buy holidays, etc. at 4x face value.

But the best bit was when somebody found the HDMI cables reduced to only £1, and they still got £10's worth of CC points with every pack! Being a fervent points collector, they had a good idea :ideaIPB: - take the reduced stuff back into Tesco and buy it again, and again, again, etc. However they were caught, banned from Tescos and they tried to prosecute him, but eventually dropped the case.

Oh, those were the days, when stores in different regions ran different promotions, but all their different vouchers would work in conjunction with one another, so if you swopped with other people you could get a 'full house' of money off/points vouchers and get stuff for nothing + bonus points, some people were going on free holidays to the Seychelles with the points and car booting the purchases for holiday spending money.

Every year it seems to get harder and harder to get something for nothing (my favourite price).
