It was Christmas a few years back. Wasn't getting on well with the Mrs as usual so I found myself at home on my own with a bottle of port and a whole stilton.

I started thinking about LD50 tests & all that stuff & did txt my mate to tell him to make me stop but he didn't get the txt or his phone was switched off.

I was having such a good time till about half way through.

A mouthfull of Stilton, washed down with a mouthfull of port; bliss.

What I didn't think about was the salt content of Stilton.

Or the effect of the port on my blood pressure:DOH:

Any way, after the two factors combined, it left me shaking & shivering in my bed with a terrible headache.

Don't do this at home kids, only under medical supervision.

Bit like the time I ate 2mm of the tip of a foxglove leaf:DOH:

 

Good story Zig. Port and Stilton. I can imagine the flavours and its making my mouth water.

Why did you eat a piece of Foxglove leaf though?

 

Wanted to know what it would do.

Now know it is a very powerfull heart stimulant. Gave me palpitations all night just from that tiny bit. Was too scared to go to sleep incase I woke up dead:DOH:

 

I knew foxglove was potently toxic, but I didn't realise it was that potent. 2mm of leaf to give a grown man palpitations, that's potent.

 

That's LD50 tests for you, eh?!!
