thank you John, for once again bringing a smile to my face. you are so funny. i love the way you take the mickey (nicely said) out of where you live!
i loved the photo of the kids park!? how stupid are our councillors. why aren't they normal people? maybe they are when they start the job, but it must be that they get 'moranised' (yes, just made that word up but you know what i mean).
we had a bollard 'thing' put at the top of our road a few months back, and although i don't usually bother, i phoned the council department responsible (that was another thing, 2 depts. telling me that the other was responsible). i told them it was pretty stupid to have it there, i did phrase it better, cos there are at least 3 roads trying to get out of this one entrance/exit. also it was awkward for pedestrians. anyway, i was told it was deemed good. less than 2 weeks after it was up, it got knocked down. we spoke to the workmen mending it & were told that it was probably a council vehicle that had damaged it! it is a little space.
it has now been knocked down & repaired (with black tar, that doesn't fit with the pathway at all) 3 times.
    who decides these things?
i seem to moan don't i? keep making me smile John. if there are any councillors on here i don't mean to be rude to you, ok?
    cheers
    sandra

Thanks Borrowers (and everybody). I do like to laugh and, if I can get serious, just for once, may I explain why?

The world is full of pompous, self opinionated people. They get elected to councils, to Parliament to head charities, to head National Health Trusts, to all the important jobs.

How can we deal with them? Not by voting against them because enough people will be conned (until they do something totally stupid) to elect them. And many aren't elected, they are appointed by people just as pompous as they are. Now we can worry ourselves silly about what they are doing to this fair and pleasant land. Or we can laugh. I laugh at most things because most things are not really important. And the important things, I find , we can't really do anything about anyway, because these people have control.

That makes me sound like an anarchist. I'm not I am a very serious democratic person. I actually was a councillor once. Second time around I got a record majority for the ward. Didn't stand again because I couldn't buck the system. Our Town Clerk (sorry Chief Executive) did exactly what he wanted, until he had to resign after it was discovered that he had awarded council contracts without going out to tender. His punishment? A £500,000 goodbye present.

If I didn't laugh at everything I think I would cry. So. if I seem permanently frivolous please forgive me, but I'm sure it's more fun than the lecture I've just given. [IMG] :D

    Hi John

I'll vote for you to be Prime Minister [IMG] . It should mean that litres of Martini are available on the NHS :D

Paula, please check your PM's (nothing to do with Prime Ministers) as it says that your PM box is full. You will need to delete some of the old ones before you can send or receive any more. [IMG]

Shiney your comment sounds familiar about full PM boxes. There is nothing worse than writing out a long PM to a member only to find that they have sixty messages that need deleting before any more can be let in. [IMG] [IMG] ;) :D Talk about frustrating [IMG]

Now as you know, I don't do people photos, only scenery. But last Saturday my youngest got hitched, we weren't bothered she's been living with him for 3 years (good job we are broad minded).

I couldn't resist posting this though. It is the youngest member of our extended family. The one who, when my £700+ clock started to lose time decided to mend it - with superglue. Since then he has recovered, and to prove that he is still alive, and the scars have healed:
