Well Lollipop has the brightest daughter that has saved the day I have 3 Gherkin plants taking over the greenhouse should I pinch out the tops or move everything else out of the way they are growing like wild things.

Thanks for all the replies but the Courgettes are smaller than the blooming Gherkins this is the first time I have grown the Gherkins I presume they will slow down when the fruits start to swell. It is like The Day of the Triffids in the greenhouse.

    Great stuff
Thanks again especially to your daughter Lollipop. I will try to get a photo uploaded at some point.

Have you got the Courgettes in the greenhouse as well? They will do much better outdoors I think.

You are supposed to train Gherkins (cucumbers), once it has reached the top of your support, pinch out the tip. Also pinch out the shoots from side branches holding fruit, leaving two leaves after each. Personally I'm not too methodical with this, and sometimes end up with a couple of branches trailing down from the support which I tie up to fill any gaps in the greenhouse.

The view from the bar at the top is fantastic though.

Only problem is, a friend who works there has advised that all their secretaries have no external windows near them and face towards the centre. As they are on the 31st floor when it gets very windy during the windows the some of the secretaries suffer quite badly from seasickness due to the swaying!
