I wish the overriding factor was just politics, Tetters, but it's not:dunno: It's about money, profit and the bottom line.:coffee:

We have deliberately planted to encourage bees, and installed a bird feeder to encourage birds, and it seems to be working - Mrs C counted 35 bees on our rasps a couple of weeks back and the bird feeder is like a meeting place for the local 'tweeters' a lot of the time.

There was a robin feeding away in full sight earlier this evening - when was the last time you saw a robin in summer?

Army and I, maybe it would be best not to discuss the bottom line :heehee:

FC, Actually, I may be doing something right - there are so many robins on my patch, with babies, and, I have to say some of them are looking somewhat bedraggled and weary.

We have lots of bubble bee but no honey bee this year, this year i've only seen one butterfly which was half a mile away, bird number have drop big time here, we used to have hundreds of swallows this year only two, so someting is very wrong around here this year :sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad:

Oh no, no. You've misunderstood my sentiments Tetley. I also support the value that we can stand alone, if Iceland & Norway can, so can we. My worry was in direct response to the EU ban over neonicotinoids & whether or not it will still remain in place. It would be a disaster for struggling bumble populations, fleeing to farmer's sprayed rape fields every May & carrying the insecticide back to otherwise healthy hives.

Absolutely, and when we actually get out of the ''common market'' as it used to be called before it got totally ridiculous, it will then be up to us all to make our voices heard with the leaders of our own country - and with a bit of luck and a fair wind they will listen.......and by the way that neonicot.... word is everso hard to say, especially when you`ve got your teeth in upside down ;)
