We have used SBK for a couple of years and it seems reasonably effective.

At the back of the neighbours garage butting onto other unkept gardens they get loads of Brambles and other weeds coming over, so we used SBK from a watering can with a normal rose and just watered it over the whole lot and it all died off in a week or two.
However it does return after a year or so, but no trouble to dose again.

You can use it from a watering and or a sprayer if doing speciific plants etc.

As said it does state its safe to use on grass and a 500ml bottle does go a long way.
Also states you need 6 weeks before replanting anything in the treated area.

      Hi @Fat Controller
I prefer sbk to glyphosate for brambles. It also doesn't affect grass if was down over a year or so ago. Unless you can cover most of the foliage with it, brambles tend to try to come back. But I've had success with monster plants by cutting them low down, using a drill to make a hole down the centre of the stem, and using a syringe without a needle to fill the new hollow in the stem with a very strong solution of sbk. It seems to work and they don't come back. It's been very useful where the bramble has seeded into a hedge and I don't want to damage the rest of the hedge.

That is really helpful, thank you. There are a considerable amount of stems that I could use this method with, and then paint on or spray the others. I think I need to get my backside to the garden centre tomorrow and get some

I've used SBK and it works well with most unwanted plants. The only thing I've found it didn't kill was Bracken - but I don't think you'll see much of that in your garden FC.

Another thought for burning. Surrounded by trees I use an incinerator to burn just to keep things safe. You would be able to burn more in that than your chimnea and they're not expensive to buy.

I have an oil drum incinerator, but we use that away from the trees. As it happens, I ordered SBK and glyphosate early on this morning, so it will arrive by Tuesday and I can set to on my killing spree

Not for the same places, or even the same time - glyphosate is for the front more than anything, and the patio and driveway

Good luck with it all :blue thumb:

Pity I'm so far away otherwise I would lend a hand. We're used to attacking large jobs of overgrown 'stuff' but do it in small doses. One hour of work and three hours of rest  - but we have the time as we are not working. :noidea:

Pretty much the same method we've employed - it is looking a lot better today than it did last Monday, for sure.... still a lot to do, but we are headed the right direction.

I can relate to your problems as cutting grass with me is too much, everything has to be sitting down to get done. If another project pops up then the other gets left.
