Victoria - thanks for the link - I never saw that thread.

Strongy, I saw K. tubiflora in a garden centre for the first time late last autumn - and it made me laugh so much (its such a ridiculous shape) that I bought 4 and gave them to friends for Christmas. I think they all flowered after Christmas. I gave my own one away so I have never seen the flowers - but I kept a few of the plantlets. The sources I have seen say it needs very little water - one site said only water once in five months, but I found it needed as much as most other plants.

Kalanchoe tubiflora - with apologies for the shadow from the flash.

Hi Alice - the reference to staff is at my daughters school where no-one knew what the plant was. Not a reference to domestic staff, chance would be a fine thing :)

only just seen this thread, just wanted to say, 'wow' about the similarity between K. luciae and the Chrysler building, shown by PeterS!! I wonder what other plants/buildings have striking resemblances?!
