My sarcococca confusa are beginning to do something! I sowed them on 26/1/06, immediately on receipt,as instructed - and yesterday 2 little seedlings have appeared in the same pot! I have 12 pots, each with 3 seeds in them, so maybe they're all on their way! Hope so! If they do, though, let me know if you want one - who wants 36 of themn in their garden, however nice!!

I have never heard of that. Good on you - it is nice to see people being adventurous.

You have put your finger on a serious point. Once you get away from bedding plants, you often only want one of a more unusual item. What do you do with the rest - it really hurts to chuck your children away.

Having seen some beautiful Salvias in Devon last year, I have just sowed 10 different types of them - coccinea, forsskaolii, greggii, napifolia, patens, sclarea turkistanica, transsylvanica, verbenaca, viscosa and Ulignosa. I do not have room for even one of each, let alone the number that I might end up with. And most of them are not even hardy - so i will have another problem next winter!

My seeds sown in last couple of days:
Balcony red & Balcony yellow tomatoes (these are a must from now on as they were the only type to survive the aphids this winter and are still fruiting now in a hanging basket in the top of my heated greenhouse.
Aldi Geranium, Aldi Dahlia, Antirrhinum Illumination, Petunia Summer mixed, Malva Apple Blossom, Eschscholzia, Nigella, Calendula, Dahlia Minstrel mix, Dahlia Coltness mix, Californian Poppy, Aubrieta Cheeky mix, Dahlia Disco mix, Begonia Devon Gems mix, Petunia Multifora Cheerful mix, Coleus Rainbow mix, Astilbe Showstar, Dianthus Victoriana, Carnation Stripes & Picotee

Will have to slow down now as I am running out of propagator space!

let me do the worrying nixonf23!

I only sowed typically 4 seeds in a 7cm square pot, times either 3 pots or 6 pots for each subject. Some of course were too small to handle and who knows?

I put 15 square pots (3X5 rows) in a standard seed tray. Generally water the tray to bottom feed the pots. Got 6 trays on the propagator so far. Propagator - home made with soil warming cables and sand about 6 ft long.

Your right of course, just lost control! :D

I wasn't worrying about you - I was thinking of my own over-crowded greenhouse!

I'm going to have to resurrect my old polythene coverd multi-layer one to give extra space! Trouble is I need loads of plants to fill a completely empty garden - and it would cost a fortune to buy it all as ready-raised plants! And I need to supply customers with hanging basket plants too!

I only have an 8 x 6 ft greenhouse, and I am new to this forum, so I am wondering nixonf23 how big your greenhouse is when you mention customers?

Honeybee - yes - everywhere! My husband's going spare! We have an enormous house, and it still doesn't cope with me and my plants - particularly as m-in-law is just as bad - she has an 8x10 one!
    DAG - no chance!
Strongylodon - surely you saw the pics!!
