How about the Lotus Fire vine, or the Lofos Burgundy Falls...... I got these particular ones from Suttons last year as plug plants, and several of them are doing fine overwinter in my greenhouse (just on frost-free), so they seem a good idea.

</font>[/quote]I like the look of the lofos, I may invest in a few of those, thanks ;)

I want my baskets to look like Roders ::::stamps feet::::

Since Roders has posted his recipe for success, probably in the same thread as you saw his baskets, in all their glory - no reason why they shouldn't look as good, Kay!! Go for it! :D

Well, today, in celebration of having not one, but two cold-frames [IMG] [IMG] I went seed sowing crazy!!!!
    I did:
    Morning Glory 'Heavenly Blue'
    Chilean Glory Flower
    Rudbeckia 'Chim Chiminee' and 'Goldsturm'
    Helenium 'Autumn Lollipop'
    Nicotiana 'Lime Green'
    Salvia 'Purple Volcano'
    Echinacea 'Lustre hybrids'
I know, I know..... a tad OTT  But I need to do something until this flaming rain finally stops long enough for the garden to dry out a bit [IMG]
Ooh, neglected to mention the 2 Phormiums I bought from a GC today [IMG] :D

You HAVE been busy, Windy! Your garden is going to be a riot of colour! :D

I'm intending to sow a lottery mix of rockery plants, and some erigeron tomorrow - and if the weather is lousy, as it probably will be, I'll sow some climbers too - including Morning Glory!

BTW - I have quite a few different colours of that, if you'd like some?

    I sowed the following yesterday:

    Bower Vine, Pandorea Jasminoides
    Carnation, Dianthus Caryophyllus, Candy Striped
    Carnation, Dianthus Caryophyllus, Double Yellow
    Morning Glory, Crimson Rambler
    Morning Glory, Cardinal

I would once again like to thank the GC members who supplied those seeds, it is a great Forum! ;)

oh DAG I am dissapointed now, everyone raves about Morning Glory "heavenly blue" and yours sound much more exciting in colour range.

My Heavenly Blues are already growing out of the propagator top - can't stop them!

Windy, I would be interested to know how you get on with the Morning Glory, Salvia and Nicotiana if you have sown them in a cold frame as I have always sown in them heat. I presume you do mean a 'cold' cold frame. [IMG]

    That's a point, Strongy - hadn't registered that.

I didn't do the sowing I planned today - got distracted. But I'll be doing my morning glory tomorrow, I hope, and it'll be in heated propagators. That's what I did last year, and it went well. Salvia I have done already, and they're sturdy little seedlings now - fingers crossed for the next stage.....

Haven't read this thread thoroughly, so sorry if this has already been said - but have you done your cineraria yet, Strongy? mine are up and running at the mo.....

Waco, I have some Heavenly Blue Morning Glory as well to sow, but holding back a bit on them as last year they just took off too early I think and as a result I lost them all!

If you can start them off in some heat(about 20/22c) then the next week or so should be ok. [IMG]

I've sown them inside Strongy, I hope that was right???? I thought I'd keep them in here until they get bigger and the weather warms up. The windowsills will be groaning when I prick them all out!!! :D
I've put the cold frames against a south-facing wall, in full sun. Will they be okay in there when they get much bigger???
