    Pete
Where did you get the sweet potato? I was wanting to try growing one this year but couldn't find a source.

Similar to lychees(litchi)but with a red prickly skin, needing a warmer climate than lychees.

    Thanks Pete.
How are you growing your sweet potato?
Are you letting a tuber sprout and then planting the "slips"?
We really fancied trying one in the polytunnel, but its probably too late to start one now as they appear to take from 100 to 150 days from planting to harvest.

Well Dave, I'm not in it for the crop, just out of interest really. Mines in the propagator, just laying there on the sand in a temperature of 25C, not even in a pot at the moment.
Thought I might pot it up later when the growth gets really going.

I got my rambutans and turmeric from there (when it was Safeway)and Wilkinsons have more colocasia tubers, aristolochia, caladium tubers, hedychiums, callistemon citrinus splendens(in bud) amongst all the dead and dying plants ... no care, no time, no interest. [IMG]

Not much to look at, at the moment.
I'm assuming it will grow some roots from the base of that small shoot, at some stage

I got 2 roses for a pound in Poundland last year - one was virtually dead, and I didn't manage to save it, but the other is a really nice bush rose with a lovely bright yellow flower! And I've had a lot from Wilko after the initial rush when the plants are well past their best - have a Caryopteris x clandonensis 'Heavenly Blue', and 2 magnolias, and none of them cost more than a pound!!

Planted some petunias for the hanging baskets and some Merina seeds.

I haven't a clue what they are, all I know is that Merina is a vine. I got them from a friend in America, but Google comed up empty.
