How kind Jenny yet how sad
I suppose it depends on wether you are moving up or moving down :-(

I am a bit heart broken at the moment with Aunties house (she is over 80)
It is a grand house Granite built, six tiered garden and over looks the Forth
Directly opposite is Edinburgh Castle, and the Royal Yacht (across the Forth)
you can see clearly with the eye, but binoculars it is tremendous

We were all sat New Years Eve watching the Edinburgh castle fire works from the lounge
and I realised this was probably the last time I would have this priveledge

Who knows what will happen to it, it will either go to the RNLI or to us
To us probably but it would be a five way split from those who live away and never visit

I would love it but Julie says no way am I living in a six bedroomed Granite house
even if I could sell up I could not buy the others out not enough cash
My half of the family want it and together we could afford it, but no way could we all live together, so I am afraid after 180 years in the family it is GONE

Wow, Jack, a house 180 years in the family. Oh, how precious. The grounds are so pretty.

Cracking house there Jack, sorry to hear what the future may hold.

Kazzie; I'd put the house on around March too. If you wanted to do it almost privately (simailar to Zigs) then this might be of help - http://www.propertyinvestmentprojec...y-advertise-and-sell-your-house-on-rightmove/
You don't appear to be able to sell your house privately on rightmove due to the legislation of selling descriptions.

My only other comment would be to make it as appealing and clear as possible before the sale.

        Jack,
the significant difference between your Aunt's house and those that I have lived in is the AGE. 2 out of 5 were first time occupancy and none had or have to character of the one we are viewing. I do understand how you feel about though but, all things must pass,
        Jenny

What a lovely place your aunt has Jack (I love her neat lawn and edging). I imagine it will be hard for the family to see it go, but I agree with Jenny... all things must pass.

This will be my 7th move, but the first time I've thought about selling whilst the market is so slack. I need to make sure there's no evidence of having a dog here and will probably have to ask my parents to have her when people are viewing.

Andy... I don't think I'd want to attempt selling without an agent. I know they are pricey :frown:.

I had my 3 dogs when people were viewing my house, I stayed in the garden with them and they were fine. I got the agent to show people round while I stayed with the dogs!!! you can see where my priorities lie can't you!! :heehee:

I remember the picture of it, it looked quite stunning your aunt house (as the garden does, I see).

Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to trust Abi... she'd go bonkers if she saw strangers in the house or garden... I hate to admit this, but it's true :frown:.

It would be a good training experience for her Kazzie. Have her sit next to you in the garden and reinforce the stay with corrections as needed and praise.

Redstar... under different circumstances it would be a great training opportunity, but she would be a nightmare.
