Poppy33: Yep, One of the common names for Semps is 'House leeks' as they are supposed to protect from lightning. I've an S. arachnoideum that didn't fare at all well in the ground so in desperation it was planted in a pot with 50% grit added to the compost. After a doubtfull autumn and winter it's now running away with itself. Even a tiny rosette that dropped off has taken in a new pot. I top mist roughly alternate days until the 'cobwebs' catch the moisture. That seems to be all it needs.

Mine hasn't flowered yet but I have great hopes :D

I have 20, oh 21 now (bought a yellow leafed one a couple of weeks ago) and have to move them due to a change of plan in the garden. More of that in garden projects later.

Here are mine showing different colours at different times of the year. I'll be adding an udate in the next week or so.

Right, now the original plant that I purchased, now looks like this in its second year:

This time the offsets are entirely different and have a platted stem and are in flower!

Do you just plunge the platted stem half into the compost mixture or is it best to just leave it alone?

Don't want to worry you Dag, but that isn't an offset. That's a flowering stem and when it dies down the the rosette will die too. It should be producing chicks soon.

    Thanks rosa :D

Rich: Thanks for that, its ok I am surrounded by them, and all from this one plant, so next year they are all going to look like this! Just wondered what I should be doing with the stems, so I shall just leave it and enjoy it! Thank you. ;)

This is what I've had to do to keep cats off my semp bed, they've buried some, spread chicks all over the place and just poo where they like.

Something had to be done so with a bit of net, some tennis balls and canes I created this masterpiece.
