I would be very happy with that, except for Reform getting any seats. Does it tell us, who would have the most seats in Scotland?

Re: Angela Rayners 2 houses, added together their value would be less than the value of most Tory MP's summerhouses.

I had an interesting chat with my brother in law. Something or other had cropped up in the news about MPs and I said I don't really get why they're idiots who expect to get away with everything when they're on a good wage and under a microscope.
He said the wages aren't enough to entice anyone bright enough to do a decent job. He reckons with a large pay increase and reduced expenses allowance etc then more of the brighter sparks would come to deliver a better job

I would be happy with that table of results. Lib Dems in second place, helped by Reform. Farage is going to lose interest fairly quickly as a small fish in a big pond, I would think, and without him Reform would struggle at the next GE.

I don't think MPs need to be bright sparks. They need to be a mix of ordinary folk. The Civil Service is there as back up. MPs need to look at the legislation in front of them and decide if it will benefit the majority. I do think they need training in how to scrutinise laws. I would dismantle the Whips role, have no coercion and every MP voting on what they honestly think is right. I would also ban all lobbying.

All our candidates live in the Constituency but that covers an enormous area. One large town and nine villages. Only one of them, in their leaflet drops, has mentioned anything about the villages. All the rest just talk about the town. Guess who I'm voting for.

It isn't split as far as I can see - most likely Labour I would expect. Tory never do well up there.

I didn't realise house value came into it, I do apologise - I thought that was a Daily Fail trick to rely on the house value to pad out a story.

According to Taxpayers’ Alliance 2,759 council bosses received six figure salaries with 721 getting more than £150k. Apparently there was 608 council bosses that salary exceeded that of Rishi Sunak. The managing director of Guilford Borough council was the highest paid at £607,633. So if the bosses of our councils are providing a better service, then they could have a point, I don't.

Doesn't mean they will, but does mean they can if they want to. :blue thumb:

If they want to now, they can register - it isn't hard.

It isn't hard, but if it can be made easier, especially for people with insecure housing, why not? :)

Nothing against it, I just don't believe it will change the number of folks interested in politics - especially those who are feeling disenfranchised with life in general.

It may not be hard for some of us … but there are several reasons why someone might not be registered … visual impairment might make it more difficult … lack of a settled address is another reason. That’s just two that spring to mind. Being part of a family that has never registered to vote … it could be difficult for an 18 year old to change a familial pattern even if they wanted to.

The more steps it takes to be registered to vote the more difficulties there are in the way for some people.

Whoever could think that it’s ok to make it more difficult tor every adult in the country to be registered to vote?
