If the MSM keep erroneously calling a party "far right" for long enough then some low IQ political extremists might get the wrong idea, not sure what's hard to grasp about that.

I'd say the US wins by a fair margin. Both Sunak and Starmer are mentally competent and in their prime. Neither have criminal convictions for fraud. We may not like their policies, but as human beings they are within the "normal" range and if we met them in RL, away from politics, we would probably find them relatively personable.

I'd say "mentally competent" when it comes to those two is stretching it :heehee: but I see your point.

We may not like their thinking, but it is coherent with a train that can be followed, even if the destination is not one we'd choose. :)

Re Reform, they will pick up a lot of disaffected Tory supporters' votes, just like they did in 2015. But, come next Thursday, the bias in the HoC is definitely going to be heavily to the left. Reform MPs and any remaining Tories can bang on from the sidelines, but how much influence they have will really depend on how much media saturation they are allowed. I suspect it will be quite a lot.

No idea what the truth is about the video, @Nikolaos, but Channel 4 are saying they interviewed him at Reform Party HQ. and stand by the story. Their news is usually well researched and accurate.

Surely how much influence anyone will have in the HoC is down to the amount of seats they have when it comes to debates and voting.
Which will probably be very little.

                A question.

How many of us here can look back maybe only a couple of generations and say that a family surname would not have been included in the song “Widecombe Fair”?

In other words, what percentage of the people here have a percentage of immigrant blood? And what “professions” did those early arrivals to our shores possess?

Do these people think that they should be “sent back to where they came from” because of that?

And for those whose hands would not be raised in answer to that question, because they are composed of 100% true British blood, through and through, how many here have been treated in hospital, or some other medical establishment, by a well qualified and helpful member of staff who was not born in this country?

Among those who have dealt with me over the past few years have been consultants from Iran, Spain and Hungary. If they had not been admitted to this country, who would have diagnosed me with my condition and managed it in a professional and timely manner?

In the HoC, yes, but in the media? That's quite another matter. If the few hard righters left are given endless platforms to carp, then their influence on the general public outweighs their actual elected status.

Yeah, not foreign criminals tho, are we? Don't have an issue with deporting illegals and foreign criminals, seems perfectly reasonable. Why do you want to put the British public at risk unnecessarily?

Near Buxton, interesting. "What's the problem with mass immigration?" says @Tidemark from their 98% white area.

Always easy to be tolerant and open-minded when you don't have to personally deal with the consequences, isn't it?

                      I’m married to “a foreigner”. He’s not a criminal, I grant you.

But, thinking about it, a criminal was one of my ancestors, not that far back. Driven to crime by poverty.

Yes, and he's probably also well-integrated and speaks English.

Sounds like the sort of foreigner Reform are more than happy to have in the country! :)

His English gets a bit dodgy when he gets angry and he gets pretty angry when he looks at the Reform party’s ideas.

How many thousand years? All, or almost all (can't think who to exclude), will have originated from immigrants.

Bryttons, Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Norse, Normans etc. Not necessarily in that order :)

For me it was 120 years ago for one side of my family and about 900 years ago for the other.

The immigration Act for producing identity papers was only from the First World War.
