I should think they'll give him an adrenaline shot before going on stage from now on!

It seems I was wrong earlier in saying they can't replace him on the ballot. Apparently despite being the nominee from the primaries it still has to be confirmed at something or other in August; in theory they can pull a switcheroo but they won't

Indeed, the media are not here to help the general public decide or to lay the facts out clearly for and against. The media are in it for their owners, the more newspapers they sell or online clicks generates profit. Sensation, half truths and personal tittle tattle are their stock in trade.

Social media is even worse, infiltrated by malicious actors and unpoliced.

Newspapers have always had political leanings and I don't think it's something they try to hide.
They take a certain line and that suits their particular readers.

I do think of the two main TV channels should be unbiased but not sure that always happens.

Good God, where did Question Time get their audience from last night, the Communist Party of Britain? I've never seen such a biased, hostile audience on any channel before!

I'm not sure it ever happens and part of the problem is they don't recognise their own bias as bias. Plus a sensationalist angle is always going to win out over reporting of the facts unadorned and in full.

The key word there is 'should' - you only have to look at the number of apologies the BBC has had to give over the past few years to see that they have definite biases. Like many occupations, the media (TV/Radio) tends to have a lot more folks of one political persuasion than another, and often if you of the other, you stay quiet or your life will be made very uncomfortable.

In my industry, fairly heavily unionised, it was (emphasis on was), quite staunchly Labour; teaching, NHS, railways... all the same - and indeed, you only have to look at the behaviours of the media to see that it too, is the same.

It is entirely possible, of course, that this actor was indeed genuinely a rotten apple that has gravitated toward Reform - it is genuinely possible that he isn't left leaning, despite being a thespian who predominantly seem to be left leaning. But that being the case, why would he then present in character? Why would he, a well spoken person, be 'rough talking', as it was so put? Stevie Wonder could see that there is something wrong with that picture.

Amazing how it is OK to admit/apologise and move on and don't link it to the party if it is a Labour MP, but not for anyone else. ;)

The Telegraph has just rolled out a piece by Heseltine! Sheesh! Desperate or what? :)

The Tories just do not seem to grasp that their "Labour will crash the economy" fear-mongering is a spent bullet given what we have suffered under them. However bad Labour is, it will not be as bad as it has been for most of us under the Tories. And if Labour messes up, it will be in large part accidentally through trying to make some things better, whereas the Tories messed up to enrich their mates ... and very successful they were too! I would rather give my taxes to Labour to fritter away unwisely on projects they hope will work than to the Tories to pass directly to their chums and pals and backers without a thought for helping ordinary people.

Oh at one time it did, or at least it came fairly close to the mark. Things went south when they moved from giving us the news and actual happenings of the day over to it being your daily dose of what you should think - it started with things like health/sugar/obesity... everything had to have a message; it even ran through into things like Eastenders. Then 2015/2016 happened and folks didn't behave themselves and voted the wrong way. Ever since, there has been a bitterness and a desperation to present things in a way to deliberately ignore certain parts of society (essentially most folks over the age of 40, particularly if they are male) - they even admitted that was their strategy at one stage, to attract younger viewers and listeners (no, not in the Jimmy Saville of attraction... although with the BBC you never know ;)) - - you only need to look at Radio 2 to see how it lost listeners by the million and the corresponding explosion in listeners for the likes of Greatest Hits Radio.

They were relatively successful in almost blackmailing people to vote for them in 2019, using the tactic that "if you don't vote for us, you will get Corbyn"... to a large degree that was true and scared the wits out of folks, especially given some of the numbers Corbyn was lobbing around with regard to spending. That blackmailing isn't working this time, not least as the Tories blew as much as Corbyn would have done and more, with much of it wasted. This time around, we are saddled with debt, so there simply won't be the money available for Starmer to blow like it was confetti.

They're too busy hating/being thick to listen.

Everything is about economics, anti mass immigration is an economic policy not a racial one.

All the virtue victims hear is 'immigrants are evil'.

Immigration good, mass immigration bad. Simple.

One audience member already exposed on X as a Leftist who goes on pro-Palestine marches and another as a BBC employee, you really couldn't make it up!

Here's the first chap I mentioned in the Birmingham Mail...

When people are described pejoratively as ‘leftist’ it confirms quite a lot for me.

What an odd post, why do you automatically assume it's pejorative? I was a Leftist for many years for perfectly valid reasons! It's no different to saying "right-winger" and that wouldn't bother me as someone who's currently a Libertarian either.

The trouble is that when the BBC tries to be unbiased by giving an opposing view equal time it appears that the opposing view has equal validity when it sometimes patently doesn't. Should a flat earther get equal time to a scientist explaining why it's winter in Australia today?
