The demonisation of the working classes. That's also what caused the Brexit vote. Peoples' genuine concerns were just dismissed as racism and xenophobia.

 

I had both knees replaced in a private hospital paid for by the NHS.
Had I not paid into a plan I'd still be waiting to get the first one done.
I dont mind paying a bit extra as the NHS is just not fit for purpose, it needs modernisation and is pretty poor to be honest.
Having said that I think the treatment is fairly reasonable when and if you can get it.
Lying in corridors on a trolly is pretty abysmal and any privatisation that avoids that has to be an improvement.

And I dont think its all about money.

 

@Panda2 are you referring to the Birmingham Clean Air Zone? This was implemented by the Labour run Birmingham City Council, not the Tory mayor as you say. Birmingham City Council has now gone bust and we are faced with cuts to services and a 20% hike in Council Tax.

The money is being siphoned off to the wealthy, through PFI contracts, privatised services, etc. The rate at which this is happening has increased so greatly that the system can no longer cope so nothing works.

Economic growth is not the answer. The solution is to stop the outward flow and use tax payer money on the things the 95% of the population who are not wealthy need.

 

The problem is, there are some who think mass migration is primary caused by climate change, fertility rates of 5-8 points is irrelevant. Nigeria had a population less than the UK in 1965, yet by 2050 it is predicted to be the third most populated country with over 400 million people. I think if the Western countries had such an explosion in population, migrants would be heading in the opposite direction.

Far too many xenophobes pretend they lived previously in some socialist paradise that they were given a free home for life and somehow us foreigners came here and ruined the "dream". See it's too difficult to instead address the failings of Thatcher's neoliberal politics of selling off everything she could do, the public ended up only owning the mistakes of the rich owners of failed utilities and infrastructure. They made billions and went off to their island paradise far away. And we are left here to fight with people who think Nigel is some genius. Do spare me
