Tucker was based on Alistair Campbell.

Williamson was more of a Ben Swain - overpromoted, completely out of his depth, useless, but has enough dirt on people to bring down the government, so they keep him there!

The west being caught up in the US, French and UK - all major NATO states - elections all in one year certainly seems a bit of a concern, Putin wants his enemies to be otherwise engaged.

I think Williamson learned a trick or too from Tucker, nonetheless. ;)

You misunderstand me … I’m not making a moral judgement … I’m just saying that previous prime ministers and cabinet members seem to have been able to find plenty of ‘family time’, so it ill behoves folk to carp at KS if he tries to find time to spend with his family when he’s PM.

Sadly, they will carp anyway - it is all any of them seem to do... fight like rats in a sack whilst we pay the bills.

David Aaronovitch is not a BBC employee, he is a freelance journalist, and regular Times correspondent.

Hopefully the BBC will think twice about using his work in future.

Does he present Radio 4's Briefing Room or does he not? It says so on his "X" profile.

He does, but like many people who present BBC programmes, they are not BBC employees.

My post says "presenter", I'm not clear what your issue with it is.

I suppose my issue is you appear to be attributing this as the view of the BBC, rather than that of an independent journalist.
A similar issue has of course occurred with a famous sports presenter.

Perfect get out for the BBC, isn't it? The old "he is a contractor" trick. The issue for me is that I am forced, under law and threat of imprisonment, to pay the TV tax that pays for people like him, whether he is directly or indirectly employed.

At one time, our company used agency drivers - if one of those agency drivers had a medical episode and parked a bus into the front of someone's house, who is liable for the damage? (PS we are self-insured up to the first £1m)

If someone is presenting a BBC programme they are expected to uphold and embody the values of the BBC. It's disingenuous to say they're independent

But surely your company would only be liable for the actions of the agency driver whilst acting on your company business.

If the same driver delivered pizzas on Friday evenings as a side job your company would not be liable for his actions while delivering pizzas, although the pizza company might.
