Maybe we should revoke Parliament, and have a King again instead!!
That way we can get rid of Nigel Farage (who then starts a new party, "Reform US"!!)

There are multiple benefits here. No haggling by different political parties, no in-party squabbles, no need to worry about receiving your postal vote in good time, no politicians criss-crossing the country to sweet talk people, fewer trees cut down to make polling cards, and best of all, no Nigel Farage comebacks - unless of course he manages to miraculously become heir to the throne!!

So ... just strolled along to the Polling Station. I was the only person in sight, bar officials. Anyway, on the way out there was, as per, a bloke with a clipboard asking for voting info. Ah now, I imparted, in a jocular fashion, David Dimbleby says exit polls ruin the fun of election night. He got immediately very snooty and said "Madam, it is not my business to care what anyone thinks. I am collecting data". To which I responded "And I don't have to give you any". He was wearing a Lib Dem badge. Lucky for them I'd already voted.

Indeed. I'm hoping a big enough majority will help with this. Of course, he needs a fair environment in the media too. The Tories got away with all manner of stuff because their media chums cooperated by not reporting what was going on, or, if they did, not acting like a dog with a bone over it. Starmer may not have such a benevolent press to assist him.

Of course, he could always have a chat with Tony Blair, and find out how he managed to do so well.

We had a phone call from the local Tory HQ two days ago and they asked what time we were going to vote. Are they going to get the red (or blue) carpet out for us? It will be interesting (or not) to see if anyone is there. Usually no one at all.

Seems odd they would want to know the time. I'd have replied "Somewhere between 7 am and 10 pm"!

I have a question. :) How is the order of candidates on the ballot paper decided? I'm sure psychologists would say being first is an advantage as it suggests that person is the frontrunner.

Or maybe the one with the prettiest picture.

I've voted so I now have the absolute right to moan about the government should it be necessary.

No, not alphabetical here, @Tidemark. Lib Dems were in the top spot, followed by Labour.

Should it be necessary, @BB3? :loll:

Not in favour of that either, much as I do have a respect for royalty. I think we can all agree, Farage or not, parliament and government in it's current form, doesn't work - at least, not efficiently and not representatively.
