The greater the number of candidates, the lower the proportion needed to win the seat.

We've remained Tory.

 

And yet the wealthy managed to increase their fortunes enormously. That is what austerity does. It siphons money away from public services and hands it to the richest. And the unprecedented deficit in 2010 existed in the first place because the world's elite bankers were allowed to follow their "profits are ours, losses are yours" mantra to its ultimate endpoint.

 

I think we need to scrap the whole system for something more modern and less corrupt.
The two party system is wrong and devised to just keep those two parties in control.

 

Our 2-round system is no better. It results in a protest vote in the first round but a predictable coalition of parties for the second round, all with one aim in mind....to keep the RN out. Not terribly constructive!

 

Looking at various TV programmes today.

Channel 4 has:
Renovation Nation.
Four in a Bed.
The Dog House.
Fantasy Island.

Channel 5 has:
Charming but Deadly.
Hell on the Highway.
Greatest Ever Wind Ups.

 

We've turned red here but only 55% turnout ...

 

The figures I'm seeing is that the labour vote is up by 2% and the tory vote down by 20% which kind of suggests that the tories blew it rather than labour winning.

None of it actually turns into sensible figures regarding representation in the HoC.

 

Still Tory here and 65% turnout.

 

The vagaries of British politics!!

But a tennis player can lose a match by a huge margin, or even have a greater number of points - but still lose overall.

 

The BBC is really glossing over the SNP woes by avoiding talking about their results. Normally the BBC is all over the SNP, giving them way more than their proportionate share of airtime.
