I am really pleased with all my ferns this year and one of the changes I would like to make in some on the spaces I have after the monsters are gone is to put in more of my most favourite of plants !

And the specific fern area has done better than I ever expected in its first year

The bean tree continues to improve the privacy of my secluded areas

And the evergreen cover on the trellis which looks in to next doors has covered nicely

Also the fig tree has produced some impressive monster foliage which I am hoping will be repeated on a larger scale next year

The bamboos in September are still shooting and continuing to impress. I have had loads of growth in my bamboos and achieved some impressive height with some of the more mature clumps

In terms of the front garden, the gunnera are all at their seasons biggest and throwing up their rude spires. Even the potted gunnera have achieved a really good size in 2006...

Of course the front garden in September sees the miscanthus building up to a flower finale of approximately 12+ feet, and there are some smaller varieties that are already flowering

Other things worthy of a mention are my musifolia which has struggled after being left out all winter, but is getting there ever more quickly with the recent warm weather

This black grass which came with the house which seems to like me

And lastlythe garden seems to be bursting with these

Absolutely everywhere, both small and huge spanning banana leaf to palm and tree to grass it seems

Hope you have enjoyed my late night attempt to get this finished, I hope its not too incoherent...

    Hi guys,

The fern in the third picture down is a Asplenium scolopendrium muricatum (fimbriatum).

I forgot to take a picture of this holy fern which I think is well worth growing...

Its a bit blurry due to the fact its is raining really hard...

Also the Lady Fern is a great performer. I cut this to the ground in the spring as it was getting huge. What you see is all this years growth...

But rain has its upsides and can give you some really moist lush snaps :D

An overcast day here today but it does help to capture the greens in the garden where the sun usually glares out the lushness.

So to update on the bananas....

The flower continues to emerge and is beginning to move out and over to its hanging flowering position...
