The ferns are really lush, BM. They are all so beautiful! Where are the monsters moving to? The Catalpa is looking fab! What is that pretty pink flower?

Sunday it got a bucket of diluted chicken poo I forgot about and all the sludge at the bottom. I don't think it is coincidence it grew 6 odd inches in the last few days  :D

Hi LoL the pink flower is a Kaffir Lily, which looks really nice flowering at this time of year. The catalpa has done really well this year and has benefited from the removal of the tall trees behind which grew out of a neglected hedge.

The monster gunnera is moving up my dads when I landscape his front garden and the ligularias are going to my god parents. I bought a load when a garden centre closed down and they have all got too huge to keep them all. So I want to get more ferns so that the garden stays even greener during the winter and more importantly make more of the garden near zero maintenance.

you beat me to it, LoL! I was going to ask if it was a Schizostylus (spelling!!) because it looks like mine, but couldn't see the leaves...

Agree about the rain, BM - makes everything look incredibly green, and the droplets of rain are amazing on the surface of the leaves in particular. Fantastic pics as always! :D

Hello Banana Man. I was in my (very, very tiny)garden yesterday wondering what I could plant in containers along the boundary (about 7 foot long) between me and my next door neighbour, and I suddenly thought of you.I love the jungly look and feel of your garden and it's exactly what I would do to mine if it was much, much bigger. Ideally for this boundary I would like something with large leaves which would maybe grow to around 6-7 feet high but my problem is that I'm in a very exposed, very windy coastal location on the west coast (about 30 miles south of Glasgow)and I need plants that will survive in these conditions. I already have some cordylines and pampas grass which do fine but I would really like to try something different for a bit of variety. If you have any suggestions or advice I would be really grateful, thanks very much.
