Am getting a bit concerned about the lawn in the private areas of the garden. I didn't really want lawn but went for it becasue I couldn't think of anything better. Anyone know of a snazzy shingle supplier which is all one colour ?

Looks a bit 'end of season' sad but to be honest it is struggling. :(

What do your neighbours think, BM? Do they love it all, or hate it? They sure can't ignore it!! :D

The sun looks lovely filtering through all the lush leaves, BM.

Yes, very sad grass indeed. The garden centres and nurseries are all into Astroturf type stuff ... there are so many different types, colours and textures you can't tell it's not grass! This is to cut back on watering in the summer when our water tables are low. Someone is advertising real grass that you don't have to water ???

I see we're having a little Autumn jive this morning ... made me chuckle! [IMG]

I really don't know ? But im sure they think I am mental ! The one fella next door says I need a bigger garden, but even if I did it would look exactly the same just on a bigger scale. Not sure he understands the jungle style, but to be fair he can't see the space I have once you get passed the monsters. His garden consists of a greenhouse some 18" borders and a lawn, which suits some but not me :D The front garden draws a lot of attention too from people that would love to do the same if only they had the confidence to be different. I think planting so boldly frightens some about what others may think ? When I tell people I have a gunnera in the front garden people look puzzeled, but I firmly believe we are only limited by our imagination. ;)

Hi Lol I thought about astro turf, but I am thinking I like the gravel more. I would like some of that recyled glass which is made into green shingle but its about £500 a half tonne and I would probably need 4-5 tonnes.

I think you're completely right, BM, to go for what you like in your garden - and I love yours. It's not my style, but I love the gorgeous lush planting. The idea of mono-colour gravel is good, I think. I'll have a look to see if I can find any cheaper suppliers too.

My only concern is based on the experience I had in trying to sell my house in Hemel - it took ages because people said it looked like a lot of work. What would people think about yours?

I wouldn't suggest that we should garden as if we were about to move, but it's something to be aware of.... not everyone is a keen gardener!

Im not moving in the near future, and a lot would come with me. Most of it is easily removed and trees can easily be pruned back :D But yes I have thought people wouldn't like the 'work'. Also putting gravel down I thought might be a bad move becasue people like lawns?

Green Coloured Glass 1 tonne bags £956.45
    to my address

Maybe green granite at £423 for 4 tonnes would be better.

Great link dendy I shall have a look. What colours do you like ?
