The Chinese as we know are going through an economic 'boom', which is probably why it's being suggested we learn their language. Many people in Britain are already complaining about their low grade products, so bearing this in mind, that 'boom' isn't going to last long. So, by the time we have got our heads round the language they will have disappeared from the economic market again. :)

On the other hand - however - the point is that they are as many as 1,400,000,000 people out of a world population of 7,000,000,000.
I mean: in our planet, more than one person out of seven is a chinese...

I live in a village. I can think of at least 10 Chinese Takeaways within 3 miles of my house.
Extrepolate that nationwide. Multiply by at least 3 members of staff per Shop.
Thats only England. How many Chinese Takeaways are there worldwide?

If they all disappear - WOW.

    Unfortuantely NOT
Everything we have bought in the past five years is produced in CHINA
and now we do not have any plant capable of manufacturing goods, and if we did, the wages of our workers would make them unsaleable

China is a sleeping Dragon and will soon RULE the World
They have the biggest sea going fleet in the World, Agreed they are not Nuclear as far as WE know
Like the British America is going the same way, one big ship equivelant of 20 WWII battleships in fire power, but this Big ship can not be in twenty places at once
If young a chinese dialect language would be the way to go, either that or Arabic in order to draw your pension at a British All in one shop

I was in a Chinese take-away for a meal last night
I ordered a Pork Curry with rice
    He said WA A WA
I repeated a Pork Curry with rice and added the number 10 to make sure
    He saie WA A WA
After several repeats and very frustrated
    He again said

WA A WA THE PAINTS WET :-)

They talk about the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) as the new economic power bloc. They are all being affected by the global economic problems elsewhere but still have the ability to survive better than the western economy. China owns a lot of the U.S. but is now being hit by its economy growing too fast so I can see problems ahead. Russia is already having problems and India getting a bit wobbly (technical term :heehee:) as well. Brazil is a bit better off but I think it is becoming too complacent and it's inflation is starting to rise.

My solution - dig a hole in the sand and stick your head in it. :loll:

Am I going to learn Chinese? Nope!!! :heehee:

That is all we can do, oh and vote every four years :heehee: I mite start today by not listening to the news. I'm sick of hearing about how poor and hungry and cold we are now.
