Shiney - I live near a district here called Shiney Row. On the high street is a shop called "Shiney New Electrics"!!!

Lovely pictures Shiney. The Lake District is a favourite of mine, used to walk and climb there. Worked for a time in the Langdale Valley. Your pictures brought back a lot of memories - I must go up again, its been a few years since I last visited.

Thanks for all your kind comments.

There are a lot of 'Shiney' places and shops around the country. i don't own all of them! :D :D

Kandy, rosa, - the picture you've seen before is the one I posted on 'Garden Visits'. It is also the one used on the postcard.

Fran, - the Langdales are lovely. This time up there we were also walking around Elterwater, Little Langdale Tarn and Blea Tarn. I'll get around to posting some of those photos on here. It took me 2 hours to post the last six pictures so everything will get posted gradually - but not quickly. Where in the Langdales did you work?

Following the path alongside Castle Crag opens up the view towards Derwent Water.

and then down through the woods to the river Derwent.

Then a short stroll to the pretty village of Grange with it's well known bridge.

And a good place to refresh yourself with home produced light food and Lakeland ice cream.

Whilst sitting in their garden overlooking the river you can ponder on whether to take the walk back, through the woods and alongside the river, to Rosthwaite which is also where the 'Rogue Herries' stories by Hugh Walpole are based.

Another famous, small, lake is Tarn Hows that is one of the most visited places in the Lake District. It has a car park but the drive up to it can be a bit busy whereas there is an easy and very pretty walk up through Glen Mary, alongside Tom Gill and some waterfalls. Once at the Tarn there is an easy walk around the lake or plenty of walks to other areas.

I'd love to take a trip up there and see everything first-hand. Since that is not possible, I'm glad that you at least went shiney and have shared it all with us. Thanks so much. [IMG]
